BI / Business Analysis Overview
Leads a dedicated team overseeing the full lifecycle management, archival, classification, protection and accessibility of geological, geophysical, petrophysical, petroleum & reservoir engineering data covering physical and digital formats for Subsurface Development & Exploration (SD&E) directorate. Supervises technical records archiving operations by managing HSE risks, data integrity, maintaining backup and disaster recovery readiness and the delivery of standardized subsurface data services and digital workflows aligned with SD&E directorate business strategy.
Experience
•Multidiscipline experience (petroleum engineering, geoscience, geophysics, petrophysics, GIS, computer science) in dealing with complex subsurface data issues.
•Broad knowledge of integrated field studies, subsurface data types (e.g., seismic, logging, well testing, coring, down-hole sampling) and surface data acquisition (e.g., surface production metering, sampling).
•Expert knowledge of deployment of data management and related software and databases for geoscience and petroleum engineering (e.g. Openworks, Petrel, TechLog, Studio, ProSource, Oracle, OSDU, Azure, Delphi, ADME etc,).
•Broad experience in working across enterprise systems NAS (Network Attached Storage) environments managed through CIFS/SMB/NFS protocols and UNIX/LINUX and Windows O/S.
•Expert knowledge of managing large volumes of data across various storage media (i.e. 3592 and LTO) with focus on seismic storage and clustered storage systems such as Dell EMC ISILON handling petabyte scale SEG-Y, SEG-D type. Experience in capacity planning and data tiering strategies to management low bandwidth, high throughput, and large volume data.
•Proven delivery of script automation through Python and visualization dashboarding through PowerBI, Tableau, or Spotfire.
•Broad knowledge of geoscience and petroleum engineering data handling (loading, manipulation, editing, access, industry standards, integration, and architecture).
•Relational and vector database management systems and petroleum industry data modelling concepts associated to PIDX, ODSU Forum, PPDM or Energistics
•Excellent client and vendor relationship management skills.
•Excellent leadership, supervision, team building, company policy, quality management and procedure skills.
•Excellent communication, presentation, motivation, and negotiation skills.
•12+ years' experience in the petroleum industry. 10+ years in seismic data management with 5+ years' experience in a lead role managing of geoscience and petroleum engineering data.
Qualifications
•B.Sc. or graduate degree in Geophysics (preferred), Geology, Petroleum Engineering or Computer Science with significant experience in seismic data management (involved in data room setups physical/virtual) and practices in acquisition, processing or interpretation.
