JOB DESCRIPTION

GENERAL OBJECTIVES OF JOB:

The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for leading the design, engineering, procurement, and implementation of electrical systems and infrastructure supporting oil and gas operations. The role ensures that all activities are executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget, while complying with applicable international standards and industry best practices.

The position plays a critical role in maintaining operational reliability by overseeing new projects, facility modifications, and continuous improvement initiatives. This includes conducting proactive technical studies, troubleshooting system issues, and developing optimized engineering solutions to enhance the performance, safety, and integrity of existing installations.

A key aspect of the role is the preparation of Scopes of Work (SOW) for tendering processes, as well as the technical evaluation of tenderers and submitted bids, ensuring alignment with project requirements, technical specifications, and company standards.

The Senior Electrical Engineer works closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with other disciplines. The role also requires effective coordination with operations, maintenance, procurement, and project teams to support successful execution and operational excellence.

Work Location: This position is based at the Head Office in Tripoli and requires regular visits to field production facilities to support project execution and operational requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s degree is an advantage)
• Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas industry, with strong exposure to upstream and/or production facilities
• Strong knowledge of electrical design principles, codes, and standards relevant to the oil and gas industry.
• Familiar with Medium and Low Voltage systems (equipment’s, network, distribution and switching).
• Familiar with installation and operation of different types of frequency converters.
• Good general knowledge and understanding of engineering disciplines such as automation and process engineering.
• Proven experience in project management and team leadership.
• Proven experience in project engineering, tendering processes, and technical evaluations
• Strong knowledge of international standards (IEC, IEEE, etc.) and oil & gas industry practices

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and engineering of electrical systems (MV/LV) for greenfield and brownfield projects
• Prepare detailed scopes of work, technical specifications, and documentation for tendering processes
• Conduct technical evaluation of tenderers and review submitted bids to ensure compliance and suitability
• Manage procurement activities, including vendor selection and equipment approval
• Oversee installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of electrical systems
• Perform technical studies, audits, and performance assessments of existing facilities
• Ensure compliance with international codes, standards, and company safety requirements
• Provide technical support for troubleshooting, maintenance, and operational challenges
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external contractors to ensure alignment and execution efficiency
• Drive continuous improvement, reliability, and optimization initiatives

EDP Skills:

• Familiar with the Electronic Data Processing (EDP) tools and software for data management and analysis, e.g., E-Plan for electrical design and documentation, AutoCAD, ETAP (Electrical Transient Analyzer Program),
• Ability to analyze complex data sets to optimize electrical systems and support decision-making processes.
