The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, construction supervision experience, and a commitment to safe and efficient project delivery in a high-performance site environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and coordinate all civil construction activities including earthworks, concrete works, structural works, and general site preparation
- Lead a team of field Civil Supervisors, providing direction, coordination, and performance oversight across multiple work fronts
- Lead daily work planning and allocate tasks to civil crews and subcontractors
- Ensure work is carried out according to construction drawings, method statements, and specifications
- Monitor productivity and ensure work is completed within scheduled timeframes
- Enforce all site safety rules, procedures, and permit-to-work systems
- Conduct toolbox talks, pre-start meetings, and ongoing safety briefings
- Identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented immediately
- Promote a strong safety culture across all civil teams
- Ensure all civil works meet required quality standards and inspection criteria
- Conduct site inspections and coordinate with QA/QC teams for hold points and inspections
- Address and rectify non-conformance issues in a timely manner
- Supervise civil workers, equipment operators, and subcontractors
- Provide clear instructions, guidance, and on-the-job support
- Monitor workforce performance and report issues to project management
- Support training and development of local workforce where applicable
- Coordinate with engineers, SMP teams, and other disciplines on site
- Maintain daily reports including labour, equipment, progress, and issues
- Report delays, risks, and material shortages to management
- Assist with planning and sequencing of works
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of construction equipment and tools
- Coordinate material requirements and deliveries to avoid delays
- Monitor stock levels and site resource usage
QUALIFICATIONS
- Trade qualification or diploma in Civil Engineering or related field (preferred)
- Minimum 5-10 years' experience in civil construction, preferably on large infrastructure or resource projects. Prior Work experience with Wood Group PNG Ltd would be advantage.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a construction environment
- Strong understanding of civil construction methods (earthworks, concrete, drainage, etc.)
- Knowledge of HSE systems and site safety compliance
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Experience working in remote or PNG project environments is an advantage
