Wood is currently sourcing for a Facilities Services Superintendent to join our Client team in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.

The Facilities Services Superintendent is responsible for delivering a safe, efficient, and high-quality residential-and camp experience through the effective oversight of outsourced housekeeping, catering and integrated facilities services.

Location: onshore, Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, West Africa

Rotation Work Pattern: 10 weeks on 3 weeks off, 6-day week 10-hour day

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

The Facilities Services Superintendent is responsible for delivering a safe, efficient, and high-quality residential and camp experience through the effective oversight of outsourced housekeeping, catering, and integrated facilities services. This role serves as the owner of the overall resident experience, ensuring services consistently meet expectations for comfort, cleanliness, food quality, and hospitality standards. The incumbent does not directly execute daily operations but ensures optimal service delivery through contractor management and performance oversight. The position plays a critical role in supporting workforce wellbeing, enhancing employee experience, and maintaining operational continuity in remote or high-density residential environments.

1. Act as the contract owner for integrated services, including housekeeping, catering, and landscaping.
  • Service delivery quality and workforce competency
  • Food quality, nutrition, and service standards
  • Housekeeping standards across accommodations and shared facilities
  • Residential facilities and common areas
  • Kitchens and dining operations
  • Outdoor and landscaped areas

Ensure contractor accountability for:

Verify that the contractor provides adequate staffing, supervision, training, equipment, and materials.

Establish, monitor, and enforce KPIs, SLAs, and service performance metrics.

Conduct routine audits of:

Drive continuous improvement initiatives and corrective actions where needed.

2. Resident Experience & Hospitality Leadership
  • Own the end-to-end residential experience, including accommodation, dining, and comfort standards.
  • Promote a hospitality-driven culture aligned with workforce expectations in remote environments.
  • Engage proactively with residents to:
    • Gather feedback
    • Address concerns and resolve issues
    • Identify opportunities for improvement
  • Ensure services foster a "home-like" environment that supports morale, wellbeing, and productivity.
  • Maintain a strategic focus on service outcomes rather than day-to-day operational execution.

3. Camp Operations Oversight
  • Oversee integrated service delivery across:
    • Residential housing units
    • Dining and catering facilities
    • Laundry and linen services (where applicable)
    • Common and recreational areas
  • Coordinate with internal functions such as General Services and Facilities Maintenance to ensure seamless service delivery

4. Health, Safety & Food Compliance
  • Ensure full contractor compliance with:
    • Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards
    • Food safety, hygiene, and sanitation requirements
    • Applicable local and international regulations
  • Lead inspection programs and ensure readiness for audits.
  • Partner with HSE teams to manage:
    • Camp hygiene risks
    • Foodborne illness prevention
    • Incident response and corrective actions

5. Stakeholder & Workforce Engagement
  • Serve as the primary interface between:
    • Residents/workforce
    • Contractor management
    • Site and business leadership
  • Translate workforce needs into service requirements.
  • Communicate service changes, expectations, and improvement initiatives effectively.

6. Financial & Contract Stewardship
  • Manage camp services budgets and contract financial performance.
  • Monitor costs and identify efficiency opportunities.
  • Support sourcing strategies, contract negotiations, and mobilization efforts.
  • Ensure delivery of value aligned with business objectives.

7. Strategy & Service Optimization
  • Drive standardization and consistency of services across locations.
  • Support outsourcing strategies and contract transitions.
  • Identify opportunities to:
    • Improve service quality and consistency
    • Optimize workforce and service models
    • Enhance the overall resident experience


QUALIFICATIONS

Essential requirements for this role:

Education & Experience:

University degree or relevant equivalent college diploma

Previous extensive experience of working in:
  • Remote oil & gas camps, mining or remote workforce accommodations.
  • Background in large-scale catering and housekeeping operations
  • Experience in managing integrated service contracts

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

Well rounded administrative support skills

Proven ability to manage large, outsourced service contracts
Strong understanding of hospitality standards in remote workforce environments

Camp or remote site operations

Catering and food services

Housekeeping or hospitality services

Experience managing integrated service contracts (SOW-based models)
Knowledge of:
  • Food safety standards
  • Camp HSE requirements
  • Workforce accommodation best practices
