Mechanical Fitter
Short Description
Ready to grow your career as a Mechanical Fitter? You will play a vital role in supporting LP Roll Shop operations through overhauling, servicing, fitting, and assembly of rolling mill equipment while ensuring safety, quality, and uninterrupted production.
Function Description
As a Mechanical Fitter, you will support daily LP Roll Shop operations and maintenance activities to ensure rolling mill equipment is prepared, serviced, and available according to rolling schedules.
• Carry out overhauling, servicing, and fitting of Guides, Roll Assemblies, Block Fittings, and Stands in LP Roll Shops.
• Ensure uninterrupted supply of Guides, Roll Assemblies, Blocks, and Stands based on production requirements.
• Plan preparation and replacement activities according to rolling schedules.
• Assemble new guides, blocks, roll assemblies, and stands as per procedures.
• Receive used equipment and spares from LP Mills using transfer car and crane.
• Wash equipment in designated washing area using high-pressure cleaner.
• Transfer washed equipment to service and maintenance areas.
• Dismantle spares, rollers, inserts, and components for cleaning and service.
• Strip bearings from guides and chocks, inspect for reuse, and prepare for maintenance.
• Clean guide bodies, cassettes, roller pins, gears, lubrication lines, and water-cooling lines.
• Arrange damaged spares and consumables on service tables.
• Perform maintenance and overhaul activities as per procedures.
• Reassemble equipment using correct hand tools and setup sheets.
• Inspect assembled equipment using approved checklists.
• Maintain proper records of serviced and assembled equipment.
• Transfer serviced equipment back to LP Mills using transfer car and crane.
• Maintain housekeeping and return lifting tackles after use.
Requirements
• Minimum High School qualification.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant Mechanical Fitter experience.
• Good English communication skills.
• EOT Crane Operating License (Pendant / Remote).
• Rigger License.
• Experience handling gas cutting torch.
• Good knowledge of hand tools and measuring instruments.
• Strong mechanical fitting knowledge.
• Physically fit and capable of industrial work.
