Gyro Field Specialist

SLB is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual to join our Western Canada operations as a Gyro Field Specialist, based in Calgary, Alberta and supporting field operations across Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan. In this role, you will support field-based Gyro survey activities, ensuring accurate data acquisition and safe, efficient execution at rig sites and other field locations. You will work closely with experienced field personnel and operations teams while representing SLB at customer locations.
This role is ideal for an early-career candidate with a strong technical foundation and a willingness to learn. You will receive training to safely and effectively operate Gyro survey tools and field equipment while building hands-on experience in real field conditions. We are looking for someone who brings curiosity, accountability, and attention to detail, and who is comfortable working in demanding environments with travel, callouts, and irregular schedules. Roles and Responsibilities
- Support the operation of Gyro and related survey systems in field environments under the guidance of experienced personnel.
- Prepare, transport, operate, and demobilize survey equipment based on job requirements.
- Maintain accurate data collection, documentation, and quality control of survey results.
- Present survey results and communicate findings to client representatives at the job site.
- Collaborate with field teams, engineers, and clients to ensure successful job execution.
- Perform Level I maintenance including inspection, testing, and basic troubleshooting of equipment.
- Use field software and systems to collect, process, and report survey data.
- Follow SLB procedures, safety standards, and service quality expectations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in engineering technology, instrumentation, mechanical, electrical, geomatics, petroleum, or a related field is required.
- 1-3 years of experience in field operations, technical roles, or oilfield services; previous exposure to Gyro, wireline, directional drilling, or similar tools is an asset.
- Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation systems; experience working with field equipment, survey tools, or technical software is an asset.
- Interest in Western Canada field operations, SAGD, pad drilling, heavy oil, horizontal wells, high magnetic interference environments, or anti-collision applications.
- Valid class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work on call, travel frequently, and support field operations.
- Strong communication skills in customer-facing situations.
- Must be legally authorized to work and reside in Canada without company sponsorship.
