We are currently looking for Assistant Manager - Projects & Engineering based at Paharpur with details mentioned below.

Let me tell you about the role!

To lead and execute CAPEX projects related to plant infrastructure, utilities, civil works, facility upgrades, automation, and process improvement initiatives.

The role holder will be accountable for:

  • Timely and effective execution of approved CAPEX projects
  • Safe execution of engineering works within plant standards
  • Delivery of infrastructure and automation projects within budget and schedule
  • Effective customer and contractor management
  • Compliance with all engineering, safety, and statutory requirements
  • Proper documentation, reporting, and project closure
  • Supporting plant reliability and operational continuity through engineering interventions

What you will deliver

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute CAPEX projects related to:

Plant infrastructure development

Utility enhancement projects

Automation and digitization initiatives

Civil, mechanical, and electrical modifications

Process improvement and productivity enhancement projects,
Safety and compliance improvement projects

  • Prepare project scope documents, technical specifications, cost estimates, BOQs, project timelines, and resource plans.
  • Support preparation of capital expenditure proposals, including technical justification, ROI, business case, and project feasibility.
  • Work closely with internal customers to finalize project requirements and ensure alignment with plant priorities.
  • Track project progress against milestones and ensure timely completion.
  • Monitor budgets and control costs to ensure effective utilization of approved CAPEX.
  • Identify and call out project risks, delays, or cost overruns with mitigation plans.
  • Ensure all project activities are completed in line with engineering standards, safety requirements, and quality expectations.
  • Find opportunities for automation in plant operations, utility systems, material movement, and reporting processes.
  • Provide support on broader engineering activities beyond projects, including:

Maintenance planning and execution support

Utility system reliability

Breakdown analysis and corrective action support

Spare management support for engineering systems

Asset performance improvement
Engineering documentation and records

  • Coordinate with production, quality, EHS, procurement, and maintenance teams to ensure uninterrupted plant operation.
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance improvements for critical engineering assets.
  • Participate in root cause analysis for recurring engineering failures and recommend sustainable solutions.
  • Identify, evaluate, and coordinate with contractors, suppliers, consultants, and service providers for engineering projects.
  • Ensure contractors align with site safety rules, permit-to-work systems, and work quality standards.
  • Track contractor performance on safety, quality, timeline adherence, and technical delivery.
  • Verify bills, work completion certificates, and technical deliverables before processing.
  • Support vendor development and maintain healthy technical coordination for future projects.
  • Prepare and maintain engineering/project documents such as:

Project charters

Scope of work

Technical specifications

Cost estimates and comparative statements

Gantt charts / project timelines

Drawings and as-built records

Commissioning reports

Handover documents

CAPEX utilization trackers

  • Maintain updated MIS and dashboards on project progress, budget utilization, and key engineering actions.
  • Provide regular updates to site leadership on project progress, risks, and achievements.
  • Ensure proper closure documentation for completed projects.

Other Deliverables

  • Provide technical assistance for other departments as well as for his group.
  • Maintaining the site facilities i.e. power, water, air conditioning etc
  • Implement new and improved ideas for better performance of plant equipment.
  • Liaising with suppliers& contractors;
  • Project management within cost and time constrained environments
  • In depth knowledge in assessing & analysing P&ID, PFDs
  • Understanding and ensuring compliance with the health and safety, regulations in which work is undertaken;
  • Purchasing mechanical equipment and spares
  • Business awareness- Demonstrates understanding of internal and external customer needs
  • Proficiency in English and Hindi. Knowledge of Bengali will be an advantage
  • Act as BP Job Representative for the contracts. Liaise and connect with the Contractor's Job Representative over fulfilment of responsibilities detailed within the contract, verify that hazards are identified, and controls are implemented, and conduct inspections & audits of the contract work.
  • Act as response team member for crisis / continuity management, with accountabilities consistent with relevant response plans and as assigned by the response team leader

What will make you successful

Educational Qualification / Certification: Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Instrumentation / Mechatronics / Automation / Civil Engineering

Additional certification in Project Management, Automation Systems, PLC/SCADA, Maintenance

Should have at least 3-8 years of proven experience in a manufacturing / plant engineering environment

Hands-on exposure to:

CAPEX project execution

Plant infrastructure development

Automation projects

You will work with

Internal: Engineering Team, Operations Team, Manufacturing Excellence Lead

External: Contractors, Vendors and Statutory authorities
