3rd W/K Engineer for Dredger

Responsibilities

The 3rd Watchkeeping Engineer is responsible for maintaining the safe and efficient operation of machinery and equipment onboard the dredger under the supervision of the Chief Engineer and 2nd Engineer.

1. Stand engine room watches and monitor all machinery parameters during assigned shifts.
2. Operate and maintain main engines, auxiliary engines, pumps, compressors, and associated systems.
3. Carry out routine inspections of engine room equipment and report defects promptly.
4. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance as per the Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
5. Assist in troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment.
6. Maintain accurate engine room logs, maintenance records, and spare parts inventories.
7. Monitor fuel, lubricating oil, cooling water, and consumable levels.
8. Assist in dredging operations by ensuring dredge pumps, jet pumps, hydraulic systems, and related machinery remain operational.
9. Ensure compliance with company procedures, class requirements, and statutory regulations.
10. Participate in bunkering, machinery overhauls, and dry-docking activities as required.
11. Maintain high standards of housekeeping and safety within the engine room and workshop.
12. Support emergency response activities, including firefighting, damage control, and pollution prevention.
13. Comply with the requirements of the ISM Code, MARPOL, and company HSE policies.
14. Assist senior engineers in training junior engine room personnel and cadets.
15. Perform any other duties assigned by the Chief Engineer in support of vessel operations.

Qualifications

Bachelor Degree in Marine/Mechanical Engineering.

Certificate of Competency as Engineer Officer.

Experience onboard dredgers, hopper dredgers, or marine vessels preferred.
