JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting directly to the In-Country HSE Manager, this position is responsible for the delivery of HSE systems and process in support of Contract and Business objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that HSE issues are given primary consideration by recommending effective preventative actions during task planning, preparation and performance, and encouraging the reporting of all incidents, near misses, unsafe acts and/or conditions, exposure incidents, near exposure incidents and injuries
  • Ensure site compliance with procedures
  • Audits, investigations including root cause analysis and why, analysis of incidents and report to HSE Manager
  • Coordinate & conduct site inductions, pre-starts and toolbox talks
  • Engage with EHL operations in order to identify high risk work and HSE support requirements such as Risk Assessment, Job Hazard Analysis
  • Maintain an active, visible presence on site with a clear focus on Permit to Work compliance monitoring and compliance assurance
  • Actively engage and communicate with operations and contractor personnel across all levels, to promote occupational and process hazard awareness
  • Ensure timely reporting of all incidents, conducting incident investigations as required
  • Focuses on delivery elements and implementation of HSE policies and practices
  • Assists in the resolution of team issues and monitors integration of health and safety programmes including hazard and risk identification, incident reporting and investigation, employee health and well-being, environmental hygiene and organisational transformation
  • Assist with planning of, and participation in, HSE inspections, audits and tracking of corrective actions.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years' experience in Occupational health and Safety
  • Previous experience in similar field HSE positions within an ongoing operational environment, preferably in the resources industry or major project capacity
  • Relevant Qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety
  • Preferably trained and certified for craft to PNG / Australian standards in practiced craft
  • Strong technical skills in HSE management and emergency response, including medical response
  • Previous experience working with multi-cultural team and workforces
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills
  • Actively develops relationships with customers and Wood entities via regular contact and involvement. Demonstrates ability to develop long and short-term service relationships
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to safety
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, both written and oral
  • International assignment/project experience in similar roles will be highly regarded.
