This includes developing and maintaining reference architectures, guiding the creation of architectural artifacts, executing risk assessments and applying enterprise standards, design patterns, decision frameworks, principles, and governance to ensure consistency and quality across solutions.
Position Overview
Your responsibilities may include:
- Architecture CoE: participate and accountable for establishing and enforcing architectural standards and best practices across the HR and Corporate Staff portfolio.This ensures technology solutions drive value for COP technical functions and business units.
- Innovation Management: Facilitating and implementing innovation initiatives (e.g., Agentic AI, IoT, edge computing, quantum, robotics) corresponds to the architect's responsibility to guide digital solutions evaluation and design, as well as to promote modernization and adoption of emerging technologies within their portfolio.
- Artificial Intelligence (AI): Supporting architecture improvements in line with AI advancements is aligned with the solution architect's duty to lead the design of architectures that leverage AI (analytics, machine learning, Generative, Agents) and ensure knowledge contextualization and governance.
- Data Governance/Management/Analytics: Collaborating to drive business insights and value through data aligns with the architect's accountability to partner with enterprise data teams, understand data concepts (fabric/mesh, data lakes, warehouses), and ensure data-driven architecture decisions.
- Critical Thinking: Addressing challenges and complex scenarios demonstrates the architect's responsibility for applying big-picture thinking and sound decision-making to guide technology strategies and resolve architectural issues.
Technical Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain architectural blueprints and design principles for the HR and Corporate Staff portfolios, ensuring consistency and excellence across all assigned applications.
- Lead the evaluation, design, and secure by design implementation of digital solutions within the HR and Corporate Staff portfolio, performing risk assessments, selecting optimal technologies, and aligning all designs with enterprise-wide standards.
- Set and enforce architectural standards to guarantee interoperability, scalability, high performance, and strong disaster recovery across all solutions.
- Foster seamless functional and operational integration within and across enterprise technology environments and the assigned portfolio, enabling efficient business operations.
- Architect solutions for hybrid and multi-cloud infrastructures (AWS, Azure, GCP), including strategies for cloud migration, cloud-native development, and cost optimization.
- Work with enterprise data architecture and AI teams to leverage concepts like data fabric, mesh, lakes, and warehouses. Drive business value with analytics, machine learning, generative AI, and intelligent agents through effective knowledge contextualization and governance.
- Apply cybersecurity architectural principles-including zero trust, identity and access management (IAM), and regulatory compliance (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001)-to safeguard solutions and align with industry standards.
- Guide the modernization of legacy systems, rationalize applications, and drive the adoption of modern architectures such as micro-services, APIs, and event-driven designs.
- Champion DevSecOps, continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), infrastructure-as-code, and automation to enhance productivity and secure solution deployment.
- Engage actively on architectural governance boards, ensuring all solution designs are aligned with enterprise standards and strategic objectives.
- Demonstrate expertise in service-oriented architecture, object-oriented analysis and design, and legacy n-tier client/server systems to support both current and future business needs.
- Present solution concepts through compelling narratives that engage stakeholders, drive desired actions, and support team collaboration. Provide leadership in both formal and informal communications to strengthen stakeholder relationships and promote architectural excellence.

Basic Qualifications:
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- 5 or more years of experience in IT.
- 3 or more years of experience in enterprise and/or solution architecture roles.
- 3 or more years leading cross-functional technology initiatives.
- Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodations) to travel 10% on a yearly basis.
Technical Skills:
- 3 or more years of experience working with technology across at least three or more of the following domains: data, integration, infrastructure, security, and application domains.
- 1 or more years of experience in designing and implementing technical and digital solutions, producing high-level, low-level, data flow, physical, logical, and reference architectures.
- Possess advanced level of proficiency in one technical discipline or across five or more distinct technical domains.
- Demonstrates advanced level of proficiency in solution architecture practices, including technology evaluation, solution design, implementation, and integration strategies.
- Advanced level of proficiency in architecting and deploying cloud environments across AWS, Azure, and GCP platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience in the energy sector or other asset-intensive industries, applying architectural expertise to address industry-specific challenges.
- Holds advanced certifications such as TOGAF, AWS/Azure/GCP Architect, CISSP, CISM, or PMP, validating proficiency in enterprise architecture and cloud platforms.
- Proven track record supporting mergers and acquisitions, digital transformation initiatives, and operational excellence programs within complex organizations.
- Hands-on architecture experience implementing and integrating SAP, Workday, Passport, Genetec, and other major enterprise platforms to drive business value and efficiency.
- Direct experience in upstream oil and gas exploration and production, with familiarity in managing and optimizing specialized application portfolios that support these operations (e.g., production management systems, reservoir modeling tools).
- Successfully delivered technical solutions using at least three common programming languages, such as .NET, Java, Perl, Python, JavaScript, R, or SQL, enabling robust and scalable architecture design.
- Extensive background in Agile methodologies, particularly SAFE Agile, and leading organizational transitions from waterfall to Agile frameworks for improved project delivery.
- Experience addressing the architectural complexities inherent in global enterprises with diverse, geographically distributed teams and operations.
- Advanced knowledge of system development methodologies, business and IT concepts, and related processes, supporting strategic solution design and delivery.
- Intermediate proficiency with tools and techniques for modeling solution architectures and operating within established enterprise architecture frameworks.
- Intermediate understanding of IT service management practices, including ITIL and ITSM, to ensure reliable and efficient IT operations.
- Strong grasp of "zero trust" network architecture principles and secure computing environments, supporting robust enterprise security strategies.
- Intermediate level of experience with DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Jenkins.
- Brings over 3 years of specialized experience architecting generative AI systems, including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures, vector databases, and AI model serving frameworks.
- Demonstrates intermediate proficiency in application modernization, microservices architecture, API development, and system integration as part of solution delivery.
