NES Fircroft are looking for a highly experienced Deputy Cost Control Manager (Finance Interface) to support the delivery of a major LNG project, on a residential assignment in Maputo.

This role will act as a key link between Cost Control and Finance, ensuring robust cost management practices, compliance with financial standards, and accurate project reporting. The successful candidate will support the management while leading Owners’ Cost activities and managing the cost–finance interface across the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Cost Control Manager in coordinating all cost control activities, including budgets, forecasts, reporting, and analysis
• Act as Cost Control Manager when delegated
• Lead and coordinate a team of Owners’ Cost Controllers
• Drive effective cost control practices across all departmental and Owners’ costs
• Promote a strong project-wide cost awareness culture
• Oversee full Life-of-Project (LOP) cost stewardship, including:
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Cost reporting and analysis
  • Change management
  • Commitment tracking
  • Invoice verification
  • Cash flow forecasting
• Consolidate monthly cost reports and annual budget submissions
• Support budget holders in identifying cost risks and opportunities
• Provide cost insights for workforce planning and personnel forecasting
• Contribute to project close-out reports and benchmarking activities
• Capture and share cost control “lessons learned”
• Maintain strict confidentiality of all cost and budget information

Finance Interface

• Act as the primary interface between Cost Control and Finance
• Support monthly financial close activities, including accrual validation
• Prepare cash calls and ensure compliance with JV and accounting requirements
• Ensure alignment on SAP cost structures (WBS, cost centres, allocation rules)
• Coordinate regular meetings with Finance to align on key deliverables
• Ensure project costs comply with Joint Operating Agreement (JOA) requirements
• Support cost team on finance-related topics (VAT, WHT, inventory accounting)
• Oversee invoice technical verification activities
• Lead cost-related inputs during audits (internal and external)

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Finance, Engineering, or related discipline
• 10 years’ experience in cost control and/or finance within major Oil & Gas projects
• Strong experience working in Joint Venture environments with partner/government reporting
• Advanced knowledge of:
  • Cost engineering principles
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Cost breakdown structures and WBS
  • SAP cost management systems
• Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and manage complex reporting requirements
