Short Description

For a Direct Pipe landfall project in Happisburgh, we are looking for an experienced Appointed Person (Lifting Operations) to support the safe planning and execution of complex lifting activities. Due to the use of heavy plant, cranes, side booms, and specialist lifting equipment, the Appointed Person will play a critical role in ensuring all lifting operations are properly planned, coordinated, and carried out in compliance with relevant regulations and project requirements.

Function Description

In this site-based position, you will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and management of all lifting operations on site. You will act as the competent person for lifting activities, working closely with construction teams, crane suppliers, lift supervisors, and project management to ensure lifts are executed safely and efficiently.

You will be expected to:

• Plan and coordinate all lifting operations in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.
• Prepare, review, and approve lift plans, method statements, and risk assessments.
• Ensure lifting activities comply with LOLER, BS 7121, and site-specific procedures.
• Coordinate crane and lifting equipment mobilizations, inspections, and certifications.
• Liaise with site management, subcontractors, and lifting crews to ensure safe execution of works.
• Monitor lifting operations and provide technical guidance where required.
• Maintain lifting records, inspection documentation, and compliance registers.

Requirements

• CPCS A61 Appointed Person qualification (or equivalent recognized certification).
• Proven experience as an Appointed Person on major construction, civil engineering, marine, energy, utilities, or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of lifting regulations, including LOLER and BS 7121.
• Experience planning complex and heavy lifting operations involving cranes, side booms, specialist lifting equipment, and oversized components.
• Ability to produce and review lift plans, RAMS, and technical lifting documentation.
• Strong coordination and communication skills when working with site teams, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and document management systems.
• High English level (mandatory)
