Physical Requirements
Years of Experience
- Ensures prompt and safe transportation of fire crews and equipment to the scene of emergencies.
- Ensures scene safety at an incident and perform safe operation of fire pumps, providing fire water/foam to fire crews in the event of an emergency.
- Perform daily inspections of the fire appliance and reporting of any defects.
- Ensures compliance with the road and safety rules.
Job Responsibilities
Fire Vehicle driver should have with him the following documents :
- Driving license allowing to operate a vehicle of the relevant category.
- Vehicle registration documents (coupon, log, etc.)
- Waybill, cargo documents.
Driver is responsible for the following:
- Check the vehicle prior to start travelling and ensure a proper operation of the vehicle in the road.
- Traveling is prohibited in case of improper operation of the brake system, steering, hitch-mechanism (of the train), headlight and tail-light failure (in the dark time/ lack of lightning on the road), faulty windscreen wiper (raining/snowing).
- Undergo Alco test as per instruction of a traffic officer.
- Make the vehicle available to/for:
- The response to emergencies.
- Support the functions of the fire department and/or at the request of the Fire Chief or Delegate.
- Driver needs to demand a confirmatory letter from the authorities/ organizations or fill in records into the waybill indicating duration, distance of the traveling and the name of person that used the vehicle.
In case of a road accident an involved driver should:
- Pull over a vehicle, activate an alarm signal and post a breakdown triangle sign.
- Do not move the objects related to the accident.
- Render first aid.
- Call out for medical aid or ensure transportation of a patient by own or a passing vehicle to the nearest patient care unit.
- Notify Traffic Police and the management on the accident.
- Take the names and addresses of the witnesses and wait until traffic offices come to the place of accident.
- Drive a vehicle being under alcohol or drug intoxication affecting response actions and attention/ disease state and tiredness.
- Give permission to persons to operate the vehicle if their names are not indicated in the waybill or they have no relevant driving license.
- Leave objects (cargo) on the road causing obstacles for other vehicles.
Education
Eligibility criteria
- Availability of a driving license (B, C, D, E category)
- At least 5-years of experience as a driver with fire pump knowledge and emergency response experience.
