It often requires engagement with multiple government institutions and senior business stakeholders while ensuring safe and compliant delivery of materials to operations and projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Shape a regional MM strategy that is in line with bp MM global strategy where applicable) priorities, and investment decisions in line with business goals, operational risk, and value delivery.
- Represent MM in regional leadership forums, influencing key decisions and embedding MM priorities into business planning and execution.
- Lead critical trade-offs across material availability, inventory, service, cost, and risk with the regional leadership team.
- Own end-to-end MM performance across the region, ensuring safe and reliable material flow while optimizing cost, working capital, and operational risk.
- Oversee materials buying ( P2P process), warehousing, inbound logistics, inventory management, and material coordination.
- Lead regional governance and supplier performance management, including CAM accountabilities, across MM operations and service providers, including 3PL and 4PL partners.
- Act as the primary MM interface to operations, maintenance, wells and procurement, aligning material plans with business needs and operational priorities. Act as key stakeholder in major projects in defining SPILs and operating spares strategy, ensuring early integration of MM requirements into project planning.
- Drive transformational change in MM operating model, processes, and ways of working to deliver sustainable improvement at scale.
- Build regional MM capability and team performance through clear expectations, strong leadership, and continuous development.
- Establish a robust safety culture across all warehousing and materials management operations. This includes ensuring full compliance with bp HSE policies, and local regulations.
- Provide proactive and informed input into category strategies for all categories involving materials procurement to ensure that commercial, supply, operational, and compliance risks are identified early and effectively mitigated throughout the sourcing and contracting process.
- Ensure the effective identification, oversight, and management of High-Risk Agents supporting the materials management and warehousing operations so that all engagements are conducted in full compliance with bp policies, applicable local laws and regulations, and relevant governance requirements.
- Manage external stakeholders and regulatory bodies to ensure compliant, efficient, and well-defined outcomes that support procurement and supply chain activities (examples: state asset management, importation and duty and tax exemption, local content appreciation). Lead initiatives that create value for bp and the broader industry in country bp operates.
Key Requirements
- 10-15+ years of experience in Materials Management, Supply Chain, Procurement, Logistics, Warehousing, or Asset Management.
- Demonstrated leadership managing large operational teams and complex stakeholder environments.
- Experience supporting major operating assets, capital projects, or energy industry operations.
- Strong understanding of inventory systems, logistics processes, governance, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience managing government and external stakeholder relationships.
- Preferrable: PTK 007 understanding and/or certified - asset management and procurement.
- Influence and build alignment across functions and external stakeholders without relying on formal authority.
- Exercise sound judgement and make balanced decisions under pressure.
- Communicate clearly and credibly, turning operational issues into practical action.
- Challenge constructively and question established ways of working to drive better outcomes.
- Think creatively and challenge convention to transform and improve MM processes and ways of working.
