Wood is currently sourcing for an Offshore Control Room Operator to join our Team in Equatorial Guinea.
The role exists to monitor, control, and coordinate offshore production processes from the control room, using DCS, Fire & Gas, and related control systems, in accordance with approved operating procedures and HSE requirements, to sustain safe production and protect process integrity.
Location: offshore Equatorial Guinea, West Africa
Rotation Work Pattern: 4 weeks on 4 weeks off, 7-day week 12-hour day
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
1.Process Monitoring & Production Control. Monitor and control production process systems from the offshore control room using DCS and associated control systems, responding to alarms and deviations within approved operating limits, to sustain stable production and protect process integrity.
2.Safety, Fire & Gas Monitoring. Operate and monitor Fire & Gas and safety-critical systems, initiating required actions and notifications in accordance with emergency and operating procedures, to prevent escalation of hazards and protect personnel and assets.
3.Abnormal Situation Response & Operational Coordination. Respond to abnormal operating conditions and emergency scenarios, coordinating actions with field operators, shift supervisors, and support teams through effective communication and handovers, to maintain safe operations and production continuity.
Decisions made:
• Control and adjust production process parameters within defined operating limits using the DCS, in accordance with approved operating procedures.
• Acknowledge and respond to DCS and Fire & Gas alarms, initiating first-line operational or emergency actions as defined in procedures.
• Initiate immediate protective actions (e.g., ESD, depressurization) when required to prevent escalation of abnormal or unsafe conditions.
Decisions referred:
• Deviations from approved operating procedures, safety standards, or operating envelopes.
• Authorization of overrides, bypasses, or changes to safety-critical systems beyond defined authority limits.
• Significant process upsets or safety events requiring supervisory, engineering, or management intervention.
KEY DIMENSIONS (Department's Budget & KPI's, Assets, # of Purchases, etc
• Ensure Production Efficiency and uptime across 3 manned and 2 unmanned platforms - Targe 97% uptime
• Support achievement of Daily production target - 70,000 BOEPD
• Verify well barrier health across all 18 production wells - 100% Well Integrity Testing executed annually
Ensure zero deferred safety critical WO within area of responsibility
QUALIFICATIONS

Essential requirements for this role:
Education:
• Technical diploma or formal technical education in Production Operations, Process Technology, Instrumentation, Electrical, or related disciplines from a recognized technical institute, vocational school, or industry-specific training center (e.g., oil and gas technical institutes) is required.
• Additional certifications related to process operations, control room operations, offshore safety, or emergency response are considered an advantage.
Experience:
• Several years experience working as a Control Room Operator working on an offshore production installation.
• Experience monitoring and controlling process systems via DCS, including alarm management and response to abnormal operating conditions.
• Experience coordinating with field operators, shift supervisors, and maintenance teams during routine operations and operational upsets.
• Experience working within permit-to-work and safety-critical environments.
Knowledge:
• Knowledge of offshore production processes, including separation, compression, utilities, and associated process systems.
• Strong knowledge of DCS operation, alarm management, and Fire & Gas systems.
• Knowledge of process safety principles, barrier management, and emergency response procedures.
• Working knowledge of permit-to-work systems, isolations, and operational reporting tools.
