Short Description

We are seeking an experienced Engine Room Supervisor to join our offshore operations team onboard an FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) vessel located offshore Tamaulipas, Mexico. This role is responsible for leading the safe operation and maintenance of engine room equipment, utility systems, and associated machinery while ensuring operational reliability, regulatory compliance, and the highest safety standards.

Function Description

The Engine Room Supervisor plays a key leadership role in ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of engine room systems and utilities onboard an FPSO. Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the position oversees daily operations, coordinates maintenance activities, supervises technical personnel, and supports emergency response and environmental compliance initiatives.

This opportunity is open exclusively to Mexican nationals, with preference given to candidates based in or near Tamaulipas.

The successful candidate will bring extensive marine engineering experience, strong leadership capabilities, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence in a challenging offshore environment.

Main Tasks:
  • Supervise the operation, start-up, shutdown, isolation, and reinstatement of engine room equipment and utility systems.
  • Lead and coordinate routine and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Ensure maintenance tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and accurately documented.
  • Manage and supervise engine room personnel, contractors, and vendor technicians.
  • Conduct work planning, toolbox talks, shift handovers, and team briefings.
  • Monitor equipment performance and ensure compliance with class, inspection, and company requirements.
  • Support emergency preparedness activities and actively participate in emergency response situations.
  • Identify operational risks, equipment failures, and critical situations, taking timely corrective action.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental policies, including pollution prevention and waste management.
  • Promote continuous improvement in safety, operational efficiency, and maintenance practices.


Requirements

  • STCW III/2 Chief Engineer Officer certification for ships powered by machinery of 3,000 kW or more.
  • Previous experience as a Chief Engineer, preferably on VLCC vessels, with a minimum of 2 years' experience as 1st Engineer.
  • Knowledge of hydrocarbon processing and utility systems is considered an advantage.
  • Experience with Permit to Work systems and computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and maintenance reporting software.
  • Medical fitness for international offshore assignments (ENG1 or equivalent).
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong leadership, supervisory, and team management capabilities.
