Short Description

The Assistant Mooring Master supports the Mooring Master in safely executing mooring, berthing, offloading, and marine operations in compliance with company procedures and maritime regulations. The role assists with tanker operations, maintains mooring and hose systems, supports emergency preparedness, and coordinates with vessel crews and offshore/onshore teams to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Function Description

The Assistant Mooring Master is responsible for supporting and deputizing the Mooring Master in all mooring, berthing, offloading, marine, and custody transfer operations. The role ensures that all activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable maritime regulations, company standards, and operational procedures.

The Assistant Mooring Master assists in the execution of tanker berthing and offloading operations, supports the maintenance and readiness of floating hose and tandem mooring systems, contributes to emergency preparedness, and ensures that all associated administrative and reporting requirements are completed accurately and on time.

The position requires close collaboration with vessel masters, cargo departments, surveyors, offshore and onshore teams to facilitate safe and efficient marine operations.

Requirements

Essential
  • Minimum 3 years of sea service on Aframax to VLCC tankers, including at least 1 year serving as Chief Officer, OR
  • Minimum 3 years of FPSO experience, including at least 1 year as Cargo Supervisor or Cargo Superintendent.
  • Experience in tanker berthing, mooring, cargo transfer, and offshore marine operations.
  • Experience coordinating with vessel crews, surveyors, and terminal personnel.
  • Familiarity with offshore safety management systems and emergency response procedures.
Preferred
  • Experience with FPSO or FSO operations.
  • Previous tandem berthing and tandem offloading experience.
  • Experience with floating hose systems and tandem mooring equipment.
  • Attendance at Tandem Offloading Simulator Training.
  • Attendance at Management of Major Emergency Training.
  • Exposure to production, process, utilities, marine maintenance, and offshore safety systems.
