POSITION : Senior Mechanical Engineer
REPORTING TO : Mechanical Engineering Group Leader
DIVISION : Asset Integrity Division

Job Purpose:
Senior mechanical engineer provides mechanical engineering design support to maintenance, operations, project and inspection (conduct designs and review third party designs). This includes new pressure equipment and bolted joint designs and designs for in-service repairs to the same. He/she also provides recommendations on vibration assessments for static equipment and performs fitness for service assessments.

Job Description:

• Responsible to issue new-build, modification or repair designs for static equipment, piping and bolted joints in accordance with international standards and company specifications.
• Use engineering design and drawing software for design work.
• Provide repair recommendations to pressure equipment (ASME PCC-2 compliant).
• Conduct fitness for purpose assessments in accordance with API 579 (up to level 2 directly and capable to review level 3 from third party is required).
• Develop and review mechanical engineering related to procedures, standards and workflows.
• Mentor young local engineers in accordance with the company's mentorship program.
• Conduct root cause analysis for failed equipment and develop mitigation strategies.
• Promote a strong safety culture at Client and follow all lifesaving rules.
• Report to the Mechanical Static Lead for work planning and technical review.

Requirements:

• University Graduate (BSc Mechanical Engineering).
• Additional (preferred): Masters in Engineering, certificate/training in API 579, certificate/training in piping stress analysis, certificate/training in vibration assessments.
• Minimum 8 years as a mechanical design engineer. Experience with design requirements of piping and static equipment in the oil and gas industry.
• Preferably at least 3 years' experience based on an operating plant (refinery, gas plant, chemical plant, fertilizer plant, power station, gas/oil platform etc.).
• Experience with Fitness for service (API 579) and in-service repair design work (ASME PCC-2) is required.
• Working knowledge of bolted joint design (ASME PCC-1).
• Experience with piping vibration assessments.
• Working knowledge of international standards such API, ASME VIII Div 1&2, ASME B31.1 & B31.3, ASME PCC-2, API 579.
• Understanding of stress calculation with AUTOPIPE VESSELS, COMPRESS, CAESARII and Finite element software to calculate stresses analysis for nozzle, pressure containing parts and piping systems.
• Experience in mechanical new build design of static equipment, new piping systems and process including SOW writing, technical queries, technical authority waivers issuance.
