Job Description - Lead of Process Engineering
Part A: Job Specification
Job Purpose
- Provide Process Engineering subject matter expertise during Detailed Design /EPC phases of the COMP2 project.
Leads the process engineering discipline activities for the assigned project (greenfield and brownfield scope).
Ensures that technical requirements (e.g. basis of design, simulations, reports, studies project specifications, data sheets, etc.) developed during FEED fully comply with project requirements.
Provides Process Engineering direction, guidance and leadership to NFPS COMP2 PMT and CONTRACTOR(s) for work within the assigned area. Develop fit-for-purpose process /technical engineering definition of surface facilities.
Effectively collaborates and interfaces with Project team, Contractor, Qatargas stakeholders (Operations, OES, E&P and etc) as required to ensure that the Topsides and facilities scope of supply is fully integrated and optimized.
Provides oversight of the EPC Contractor team and timely review and approval of project deliverables within project budget and schedule.
Technical evaluations of multiple EPC tenders for large, capital projects, including risk based evaluation of complex technical issues, which may have a significant commercial impact on project execution, ensuring they are compliant, technically qualified, and consistent with project requirements .
Contribute to the development of Qatari employees.
Reporting and Relationships
Reports to NFPS COMP2 Head of Process
Direct Reports: Nil
Internal
- Regularly interfaces and collaborates among various disciplines within PMT and management on issues relating to the position. This requires effective communication, initiative, flexibility and an ability to induce collaboration.
Frequent contact with Operations, OES, Engineering and Projects, Loss Preventation and etc.
External
- Continuous interaction with EPC Contractor Leads and associated Vendors and Engineering Subcontractors.
Infrequent engagement with Shareholder representatives
Job Context & Major Challenge(s)
- Ensuring optimal delivery of Process engineering deliverables related to Topsides / Pipelines/ Surface Facilities with much of the work involving close collaboration with Contractor/s.
Effective stewardship of EPC Contract/s, ensuring EPC Contractor/s and delivers Process engineering design in accordance with project requirements, from contract award until delivery of Provisional Acceptance Certificate (PAC).
Risk based evaluation of complex technical issues that may have significant commercial impacts to overall project execution.
Maintaining relationships with stakeholders (e.g. other NFPS Projects, Operations, OES, E&P and etc.) to ensure alignment on overall delivery of the Topsides/ Pipelines /Facilities.
Maintaining constructive and positive working relationship with EPC Contractor/s to ensure delivery of Engineering per plan and in accordance with project/s requirements.
Understands organizational authority and seeks appropriate line management approvals. Able to work in a defined role with limited supervision and guidance from the NFPS Compression Project PMT / Engineering Managers.
Ability to work in a multi-faced/ multi-national organizational matrix with a variety of working relationships/ interfaces.

Key Job Accountabilities
- Advises the Head of Process and s upports the NFPS COMP2 project in all Process Engineering discipline related matters. Shall be flexible and team-orientated.
Supports PMT Engineering in monitoring the Contractor's progress on delivery of the required documents in the Process Engineering disciplines.
Provides Process engineering leadership and expertise while supervising and administering Process team. Review and approval of EPC contractor engineering deliverables/ simulations/ calculations, study reports and etc.
Plans and schedules the Process engineering deliverables to enable efficient project execution, ensuring technical alignment and compliance with Qatargas operational policies, standards of business conduct and project management system.
Maintains close liaison with appropriate members of Engineering Teams and gains alignment with the Engineering Manager on project engineering needs, objectives, and requirements.
Leads/Participates in key design workshop and ensure that Process design recommendations are correctly implemented and actions closed (Design Review, Lessons Learned, Value Engineering, HAZID,HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, engineering criticality assessment, etc.).
Coordinate with Subject Matter Experts with respect to the disciplines involved in delivery of the Process Engineering and ensures endorsement of Process Technical deviations to Company specifications when required.
Ensures quality assurance of the Process engineering activities deliverables is in accordance with the approved project execution schedule.
General understanding of multi discipline engineering (mechanical/piping/ instrumentation /etc) and ability to work closely with multidisciplinary teams.
Accountable for being knowledgeable of lessons learned from previous projects with the same contractor and capturing and communicating Process engineering and design lessons learned for the current project.
Ensure compliance with management of change procedures for changes in the Contractors design or deviations from the Company directives
Assesses Contractor capability and recommends additional technical support to address gaps
Accountable for ensuring execution of work is technically aligned and in compliance with Qatargas Operations, Policies, Standards of Business Conduct and Qatargas Project Management System (QGPMS).
Part B: Person Specification - Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Broad and extensive knowledge of:
Oil and gas offshore projects (greenfield and brownfield) Engineering
Indepth know ledge of Process engineering design
Design standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria
Offshore facilities design, construction, and operations
Bachelors or Master's Degree in Chemical/Process engineering
Knowledge and/or Experience
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years oil and gas process engineering work experience of which a minimum of ten (10 years) of relevant experience and 5 years in the similar position.
International project experience with Tier-1 EPC Contractors or Client, involved in the projects executing large offshore platforms (i.e. greenfield and brownfield work), pipelines and onshore.
Sound knowledge of the project execution process in large-scale project environments ( expenditure >US$ 1 Bn) .
