Our Client has a requirement for an Isolation Authority, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Barrow-in-Furness.

Role Purpose:

• To support the safe and efficient isolation and return to production of plant and equipment in line with the relevant Spirit Energy procedures and regulatory guidelines

Job Role Responsibilities:

• Responsible for applying & removing various process & electrical isolations in accordance with the following relevant Standards & Procedures:
• The Safe isolation of Plant & Equipment
• Safe Isolation & Reinstatement of Plant (SPT-AST-GEN-PRO-0030)
• Control of Inhibits & Overrides (DOC-HSE-IMP-106)
• Electrical Safety Rules (DOC-HSE-IMP-025)
• Carry out Pressure Build Up (PBU) testing in order to verify the integrity of isolations.
• Conduct isolation integrity checks as dictated by risk assessment and the isolation plan, and record on the Isolation Integrity Check Sheet
• Inform the Issuing Authority of any indications of PBU failure and/or reduced isolation integrity.
• Carry out thorough system integrity line walk checks prior to handing back systems to the Operations team, or prior to system leak testing by vendors.
• Verify isolations applied in the field by fellow Isolation Authorities to validate the application.
• Carry out the required gas testing for the following:
• To prove systems are free of hydrocarbons and/or toxic substances
• Prior to confined space entry as directed by the Permit Issuer
• Carry out some isolations using SCBA as required, due to the presence of toxic substances onsite
• Upon plant reinstatement, assist Operations with service testing activities and closure of the broken flange process.

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

• Understanding of and working knowledge of the permit to work and SIRPS procedures
• Understanding of the purpose, principles and practices of isolation procedures and safety rules
• Detailed gas plant knowledge
• Competent IT skills
• Accurate record keeping
• Flexibility
• Detailed knowledge of SSoW procedures
• Trained and experienced in the Permit to Work System
• The candidate will have a previous Production, Mechanical, Electrical or Instrument background in an Oil and Gas or Chemicals environment

• TMJI 10 Flange management
• Authorised Gas Tester
• Isolation Authority competency and appointment
• Permit to Work Issuing Authority competency and appointment.
• Spirit Energy P-Vision Permit to Work - CBT
