About this role: Environmental Health & Safety & Engineer

Our client is a global leader in biotechnology, developing and delivering innovative therapies for rare and serious diseases.
This role will be responsible for the ongoing development, execution of and monitoring of Environment Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHS) engineering programs to ensure business compliance to relevant legislation.
- Ensure procedures and operations comply with the Health Safety and Environmental standards of our client and the relevant State and Federal EHS legislation:
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement in EHS systems management within the Engineering Department.
- Be a first point of EHS contact for the Engineering Department. Facilitate and participate in incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are enacted and closed with the support and advice from CSL EHS Department.
- Actively support the Engineering Safety Committee and represent Engineering in other safety related committees.
- Lead deployment of allocated EHS programs for engineering activities including capital projects and incorporating safety aspects into Preventative Maintenance tasks.
- Facilitating and/or participating in EHS projects, initiatives and risk assessments, audits as required.
- Participate and as required, lead toolbox meetings, EHS inspections, walkthroughs and audits. Manage the schedule for the engineering workplace inspections and walkthrough activities.
- Actively supporting the EHS team for internal and external EHS audits in respect to the Engineering Department. Monitoring and reporting to EHS Department on implementation of audit actions.
What you need to bring:
- Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline from a recognised tertiary educational institution in engineering disciplines.
- Extensive professional experience in related function with practical experience working with EHS systems.
- Working in a complex manufacturing environment, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Strong interest in Environmental Health & Safety systems and management of the systems.
- Strong analytical skills
- Project development and implementation management skills.
