Airswift is seeking an Accounting Analyst III to work with one of our clients in the oil and gas industry in Calgary, AB, on a 8-month contract.

Ensure timely and accurate preparation of the Liquids Pipeline (LP) operating cost general ledger. Coordinates the establishment and maintenance of accounting and general ledger processes and procedures to ensure appropriate governance structures are in place over the financial results of the organization. Understands relevant accounting policies and ensures that execution follows regulatory/taxation legislation and generally accepted accounting principles. Involved in the establishment & maintenance of internal financial reporting control processes to produce management reporting that meets customer information requirements in terms of quality, relevance, timeliness, and GAAP. 

Specific Accountabilities 
• Maintain GL for LP legal entities by preparing monthly entries, account analysis and account reconciliations for operating and administrative (O&A) expenses. Ensures that all relevant financial information is entered into the general ledger on a timely basis and reflects contractual terms.
• Manage GL close month end activities, ensuring completion of specific accountabilities and results.
• Ensure integrity of O&A reports and proper information is captured for presentation to senior management (variance analysis to budget and prior year).
• Coordination and completion of adhoc projects.
• Direct and provide guidance to ensure appropriate accounting policies are followed.
• Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX 404) internal control documentation and coordination with external auditors as it relates to this position. Responsible for understanding key controls design & execution and recommending changes to controls if processes changes.
• Coordination with internal and external auditors.
• Provide ad hoc analyses for information requests related to LP entities. 

Scope 
• This position reviews the financial information for LP ensuring that appropriate governance structures have been adhered to. A significant part of this role is analyzing & reviewing information sourced from other departments. This includes assistance related to the quality, timeliness, and accuracy of the information. Involved in client focus within the team. Involved in reviewing client needs to improve quality of work and adding any required services to enhance client satisfaction.
• Ensure sufficient guidance and appropriate tools are provided to internal customers to facilitate their compliance with governance processes and to fulfill their financial roles.
• Demonstrates an understanding of the relationships and intent between various interwoven and complicated agreements. Ensures intent of contractual agreements is reflected in the reporting of actual financial statements and accounting records.
• Involved in the identification and implementation of changes to streamline accounting practices that will increase the efficiency of the financial analysis processes.
• Establish, monitor, and make changes to processes to ensure adequate system of internal control is in place to mitigate risk effectively and efficiently and ensure SOX compliance.
• Act as liaison and coordinate internal / external audits.
• On a daily basis, position works with staff, other Liquids Accounting team members, operations, and centralized function groups on preparing documentation and resolving general ledger issues.
• On a monthly basis, position works with Supervisor Operating Costs Accounting, Manager Operating Costs, Manager and Supervisors in LP Accounting on preparing financial result information.
• On a quarterly basis, position works with internal and external auditors supplying relevant working papers, as well as Corporate and other internal stakeholders for Financial Reporting. 

Working Conditions 
• Office Environment & Hybrid: in office Mon, Tues, Thurs. Work from home – Wed & Fri.
• Infrequent Travel
• High pressure atmosphere due to tight deadlines at month-end, quarter-end, and year-end. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 
• Post-Secondary education in Accounting. Professional Accounting Designation would be an asset.
• A minimum of 6-10 years experience in an accounting environment.
• Experience with operating cost analysis preferred.
• Solid understanding of HFM, Smartview, and Oracle.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills complemented by attention to detail. • Works well within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
• Strong organizational and computer skills.

• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills combined with a results-oriented business approach.
• Self-confident in opinions and flexible in approach.
