We are seeking a Structural Geologist to join Western Area & Strategic Exploration Department. The Western Area & Strategic Exploration Department (WA&SED) is responsible for the hydrocarbon & non-hydrocarbon resources through strategic & sustainable exploration programs that integrate the best talent, optimal processes and leading-edge technologies in a safe and cost-effective manner. A qualified candidate will be part of a competent team of geoscientists, work collaboratively to maintain a healthy portfolio of prospect and leads. Technical responsibilities include all aspects of well and seismic data interpretation and integration to generate candidate hydrocarbon accumulation, associated with volume ranges, and risk assessment. The candidate is also expected to come up with innovative ideas for the portfolio, and to interact with multi-disciplinary stakeholders, in order to generate efficient operational plans to assess hydrocarbon targets.

Duties and Responsibilities

You will be required to perform the following:

Act as a technical expert to assigned professionals as is necessary to satisfactorily perform work assignments.

Develop ideas, and creates plans and organizes projects or specialized studies in Area Exploration, Technical Services, or in Reservoir Characterization to realize corporate objectives.

Carries out applied research within his area of specialization to provide new means of solving geological problems.

Prepare oral and written reports to present the results of studies for review by management.

Analyse regional stratigraphic and structural framework to determine Potential and Risk of future prospective regional trends.

Utilize inter-disciplinary data, builds integrated earth models to improve visualization, optimize drilling and help Reservoir Simulation and Reserves Groups.

Attend meetings and conferences related to his specific geological discipline to ensure that the most current methods and techniques are applied to the solutions of the problems in Saudi Arabia.

Assist in training less experienced geologists through discussions and work sessions.

Exploration mapping and option generation for hydrocarbon accumulation in the subsurface geology of the western coast of Saudi Arabia.

Interpret well information, making well correlations and working with petro-physicists as required to define structural frameworks and the properties of seals, and characterize.

Participate in the acquisition planning and possibly interpretation of geo-mechanical information, such as analysis of conventional core, relating to seal integrity.

Interpret seismic, including faults and fracture interpretations for well location.

Apply structural techniques to identify potential targets opportunities for hydrocarbon accumulation.

Understand depth conversion of seismically-mapped geological surfaces, considering velocity information and uncertainties.

Minimum Requirements

As a successful candidate, you would need to hold a bachelor or higher degree in Geology or Geophysics.

+15 years of experience in subsurface geoscience including several years of experience specifically related to structural interpretation, mapping and subsurface data interpretation, selection and characterization.

Extensive experience in applying structural, and regional geology using seismic and well data to: 2D & 3D Structural Restoration in a variety of Tectonic Terrains, Structural Geology experience in Rift Basins, Active Rift Basins and Salt Tectonic Basins, 2D & 3D structural restoration from Prospect to regional scales, experience at prospect scale trap analysis including fault & map QC and correction, and working knowledge of Geo Mechanics and Wellbore Stability Analysis.

Extensive experience in petro-technical applications relating to the use of wells and seismic (2D and 3D) for subsurface structural geoscience, e.g., Move, Dynel, Skua,    Petrel, Petrosys. Competence with basic well log interpretation and familiar with advanced logs and well data such as image logs, NMR, pressures and core.

Experience in planning and being involved with the operational decision making of several wells.

Experience of other non-hydrocarbon subsurface management challenges such as, geothermal, hydrogen storage, chemical storage etc would be an advantage.
