Required skills and experience:

• A degree in a relevant scientific or engineering subject
• Laboratory experience in metallurgical, materials science or chemical environment 
• Good organisational and time management skills
• Ability to interact with clients and colleagues at all levels in a professional manner
• A positive and can do attitude
• Good problem identification and solving skills
• Proficient in computer programs such as MS Office 
• Flexible approach to working hours          

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY 

As a Graduate Engineer, you will assist in the planning and co-ordination of the project activities and ensures optimum achievement of operational targets in the most cost-effective manner, consistent with safe operating practices and quality standards. 

Key activities:

• Develop knowledge and understanding of the laboratory area and be able to apply appropriate standards and procedures
• Ensure all work carried out follows agreed procedures as set out in the local management systems including, as appropriate, job sheets, assignment plans, sample instruction sheets prior to authorisation and release by Team Leader
• Play an active part in Kaizen 5S processes
• Consistently and accurately record analytical and test results
• Deal with client queries in a professional manner 
• Understand the P&IA project management systems and procedures as they relate to project management, for example, project estimate sheets, PMS system, time allocation, project budgets and other systems as required
• Set-up, check, maintain and ensure calibration of equipment, in required safe, working order before and after use   
• Report issues and ensure resolution
• Site work may be required individually or as part of a team
