Analyst, Asset Planner by Petroplan

KEY OBJECTIVES

  • Lead delivery of critical Business Analysis activities for the assigned Asset.
  • Lead the coordination and delivery of asset budgets, and long-term asset plans.
  • Lead high-value analysis and reports on operational performance vs budgets and work plans.
  • Build impactful presentations which allow effective communication of asset performance to internal and external audiences.
  • Build and maintain high-quality records and sources of asset performance data.
  • Maintain close and effective working relationships with all functional groups supporting the business planning and economics function.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead coordination of all budget and business planning requirements for the assigned Asset with focal personnel from other functional groups. This includes responsibility for building and delivering all components of the WP&B and Home Office budgets accurately, and according to the required timeline.
  • Lead coordination of preparation of monthly Finance & Operations (F&O) review report with Finance and the functional management teams.
  • Lead preparation of management summaries, reports and presentations for local management teams, executive management and external audiences.
  • Lead analysis of operational data across all business parameters to summarize totals, explain variances, and to highlight opportunities for improvement, and to enhance value-driven decision-making.
  • Manage data related to capital and operating expenditures for the assigned Asset to enable accurate and timely reporting.
  • Lead coordination of open communication between all functional groups and other business analysts to ensure consistent communication of data, and effective planning.
  • Lead data preparation, analysis, and communication.
  • Lead improvements in processes and workflows which increase the contribution to the overall maximization of value from the asset.

KEY AUTHORITIES

  • As assigned by Head of Business Planning and Economics.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Given the nature of the role, the senior analyst will be accountable for timely delivery of products that depend largely on resources outside his/her direct control. For that end, the following are critical interfaces, across which responsibilities and process expectations (schedule and deliverables) have to be appropriately aligned:
    • Focal-points for provision of performance data and descriptions of key activities affecting either historical actuals or predicted forecasts.
    • Focal points for coordination on all WP&B, budget and outlook forecasts, and for retrieving, reporting and analyzing required financial information (income statements, pro-forma income, cost accounting, etc.).
    • Focal points for two-way transfer of information including instructions from the corporate office.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 15-years' experience in the upstream petroleum industry, focused on Business Analysis in an operational or project development environment.
  • Strong understanding of oil and gas exploration, development and production activities.
  • Strong familiarity with management accounting for business-performance measurement, setting and tracking of financial and operating targets, identifying key value drivers, and with analysis methods and tools to support business decisionmaking.
  • Strong awareness of Production Sharing Contracts, Joint Operating Agreements and Sales Agreements.
  • Knowledge of business drivers, including NPV, ROI and ROCE.
  • Ability to work in a highly organized manner, and with precision and attention-todetail.
  • Well-developed analytical skills, with the ability to distill key insights from multiple sources of data.
  • Efficient work style, with the ability to complete tasks quickly.
  • Strong teamwork, communications, and leadership skills.
  • University degree (or similar qualification) in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or Engineering subjects.
  • Fluent in oral & written English.
  • Strong experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office, and appreciation of planning and economics software.
