Plant Operators (Contract)

Introduction

We are seeking Plant Operators for our oil and gas client in Fort McMurray, AB to supervise the operation of a power plant. They will be responsible for operating mechanical equipment, repairing buildings, and carrying out duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Operates boilers and auxiliary equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Observes and records readings from all meters and gauges for steam pressure, steam consumption, fuel consumption, water consumption and power consumption.
• Supervises and instructs apprentices, laborers, maintenance assistants or other assigned help.
• Performs emergency duties if required.
• Test runs standby electric generator and fire pumps.
• Checks proper functioning of water pumps, water treatment equipment, sewage disposal plants sprinkler systems, etc.
• Performs other related duties as assigned

What you need to bring:

Requirements

• 3 Class Power Engineer
• 10+yrs experience in Power plant operations
• Proven expertise as Control Room Operator, Unit Operator, & Thermal Plant Operating Technician
• Extensive experience commissioning and startups and shutdowns
• Safety Excellence
• Proven track record of success in adding value to the facility operations
• Skilled communicator
• Skilled in troubleshooting issues, optimizing operation parameters, and ensuring optimal safety levels
• Experience using DCS systems. Experience with Honeywell Experion is a plus
