No experience / No degreeOur client, based in Kintore, is seeking an experienced Design Engineer for a permanent full-time position. As Design Engineer, you will utilise your technical knowledge and experience as an important member of a design team within a global engineering group. This group is responsible for delivering a range of world class leading innovative engineering designs and solutions for Wireline Systems and Wellhead Pressure Control Equipment to satisfy customers.
Acting under the guidance of the Principal Engineer, the Design Engineer produces these solutions for hydraulic, pneumatic or electro mechanical system designs using advanced CAE tools where appropriate for the task. Crucial to this role will be your ability to contribute to continual improvement processes, enhancing efficiency and performance within your team, and working in line with our business strategy.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Apply technical knowledge to innovate, design and develop customised customer-centric designs
- Plan and lead design small to medium sized projects as allocated by the Principal Engineer with some supervision
- Prepare cost estimates and ensure all designs assigned are completed within budget
- Prepare and check associated engineering documents in accordance with engineering group policy, (such as drawings, technical illustrations, manuals, reports and calculations)
- Participate in sales contract reviews & internal design review meetings, being aware of commercial implications
- Ensure all assigned deliverables are technically in accordance with client requirements and established contract requirements
- Prepare Technical Requisitions for any 3rd party design review or verification
- Develop and take part in test programs and factory acceptance tests to validate designs
- Working knowledge of leading small design projects within multi-disciplinary teams
- Working knowledge within a manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of many of the following;
- The Energy Industry and operations, specifically Wireline Intervention and completion methods
- Wireline Intervention equipment including Wellhead Pressure Control Equipment or Subsea Christmas trees
- Wireline winches, masts and associated product designs
- Design of hydraulic, pneumatic or electro mechanical system design
- Using advanced FEA and similar mathematical analysis tools
- Preparing technical files complying with European Regulations
- Working knowledge of FEA and supportive hand calculations / MathCAD
- Proficient user of 3d cad
- Working knowledge of Inventor
- Working knowledge in structural and stress analysis; calculation by hand
- Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook)
- Working knowledge of ISO9001 and API Q1
- Working knowledge of Autodesk Inventor, PLM/PDM data systems, FS2000, Ansys, Mathcad
- Design codes: API 6A, 5CT, 16, 17 and others, NACE, EC Directives and CE Marking, ASME, ATEX, Norsok, EN12079/DNV2.7-1, Puwer and Loler
