Our client is seeking a Lead Engineer (Project and Operations) to join a groundbreaking ocean cleantech initiative. They have embarked on an exciting journey to help decarbonise the maritime industry and build towards a clean ocean future.

They offer an exciting role in an early-stage venture company, with a dynamic and international team growing to ca. 20 colleagues. When joining, you will become part of the technical group and report directly to the Chief Technical Officer.

As the Lead Engineer (Project and Operations), you will play a pivotal role in our Center of Excellence. Your primary focus will be on technical and installation engineering activities related to tenders, studies, component testing campaigns, projects, and offshore installation and commissioning of solutions for ship charging in windfarms. Your responsibilities include ensuring compliance with standards, legislation, best practices, and customer frameworks, as well as managing subcontractors and delivering work scopes within budget and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities

The Lead Engineer oversees all project engineering aspects related to offshore charging solutions. Collaborating with an interdisciplinary team and the client, the Lead Engineer is tasked with identifying and addressing interfaces, as well as optimizing installation procedures, testing requirements, and documentation.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Strict adherence to relevant internal and external processes, procedures, and standards
  • Completion of deliverables in line with defined work scopes, considering technical and operational feasibility
  • Develop offshore installation and operational procedures for charging solutions
  • Identify resourcing needs to support procedure preparation, testing campaigns and offshore operations
  • Maintain an understanding of company IP and patent identification
  • Being active in developing a robust safety culture, with safety of personnel and equipment a core consideration
  • Organise engineering and operational peer reviews and be an active participant in Hazard Identification, Risk Analysis, and Risk Mitigation processes
  • Drive the identification of test requirements and drive the resulting testing campaigns at third party (sub-contractor or Client sites)
  • Effective use of lessons learnt databases to capture key learning and implementation in future electrical systems
  • Develop effective relationships with key Suppliers and Classification Societies
  • Manage Suppliers and Sub Contractors to ensure timely completion of work scopes to company standards and to agreed budgets
  • Supporting the Business Development team in producing high quality proposals containing method statements, technical qualifications, pilot and testing requirements and identifying key risks and potential mitigations
  • Use industry insight from wind power and network to search out opportunities to further develop and enhance company offshore charging solutions

Who We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate should possess expertise in wind farm system lay-out and operational procedures, supported by a relevant engineering degree or equivalent qualification.

Furthermore, we are looking for someone who:
  • Is experienced in the full lifecycle of project delivery including managing offshore work scopes
  • Is experienced in document control and planning processes
  • Is conversant with relevant classification society and industry standards and best practice.
  • Has min. 5-10 years of relevant experience in the industry or a similar role
  • High-level proficiency in both written and spoken English is a must.
  • The nature of the role requires travelling, including Offshore site visits - approx. 30-60 days a year. When travelling, interaction with supplier, clients and public officials is required.
