About the role

We are seeking aJunior Design Safety Engineer for major upstream, refinery or petrochemical projects located in both domestic and international markets. The role will be based in Milton Keynes and/or London with potential for travel globally.

Responsibilities
  • To work under explicit direction from Design Safety Engineering Team members
  • Read and understand Engineering design drawings & documents.
  • Develop a basic understanding of the project scope of work
  • Develop an understanding of corporate policies and standards
  • Gather supporting documents and information as needed to support design safety & environmental engineering design/deliverable activities
  • Develop a basic understanding of the Design Safety design scope of work
  • Develop a basic understanding of the Environmental scope of work
  • Develop a basic understanding of vendor drawings
  • Develop a basic understanding of discipline drawings
  • Develop a basic understanding of other discipline roles and responsibilities (e.g., Structural, Civil, Electrical, Controls, and Piping)
  • Develop knowledge of relevant codes and standards applicable to project and equipment requirements (e.g., ASME, ANSI, and OSHA regulations) in the execution of design as applicable
  • Utilize 2D CAD software Autocad and Microstation
  • Produce Design Safety calculations using approved software and tools.
  • Produce Design Safety Deliverables using approved software and tools.
  • Adhere to defined CAD implementation procedures.


Typical background and experience required:

Must have:
  • 2+ years of experience in a mechanical engineering design company or other industrial settings.

HNC or Degree in a relevant engineering/environmental subject.
  • Effective communication skills include being tactful and articulate
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Nice to have:
  • Membership of appropriate engineering institution.
  • Experience in using 2D CAD software Autocad and/or Microstation.
  • Experienced in the production of 3D models.
