Located in Spring, Texas, the New Product Development Engineer is assigned projects to design and validate well completion tools to be used within Oil & Gas wells. Whether the end application is a Deepwater field development or a Carbon Capture, Utilization & Storage project, the customer requirements need to be clearly understood, the design of the tool must be completed according to our standards, validation testing performed following industry specifications and lessons learned need to be captured following the post-test inspection so that the tool may be released for production.

Responsibilities:
  • Design components and assemblies following design standards and perform all design/safety calculations
  • Leads technical discussion during the new product development stages from conceptualization, detailed design reviews, validation, and commercialization
  • Apply engineering analysis tools such as FEA, tolerance stack-up, for design improvement, root cause analysis; PFMEA, for process and quality, cost improvement
  • Interacts with other groups: vendors, R&D and customer etc, support to ensure essential content is captured and kept up to date (e.g., at time of new release, product fix, or as needed to address customer feedback or insights)
  • Perform analysis, modification and design of products and services for assigned projects which requires basic knowledge of materials, components, and their applications
  • Participates in testing and test results analysis for assigned projects, field-testing support
  • Liaise with Project Manager to source all components in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with Testing department to assemble, validate through high-pressure, high-temperature testing, disassemble and inspect the equipment. Participates in testing and test results analysis for assigned projects, field-testing support.
  • Apply corrective actions and lessons learn for final production design
  • Be part of Halliburton's Design for Excellence program and various reliability programs
  • Identify ideas that have Intellectual Property potential and submit IP disclosures
  • Mentor junior team members

Candidates should have:
  • Proficient knowledge in design and development for subsurface well completion tools to the standards of API 11D1 (4th Edition) and/or API 19OH
  • Knowledge/experience in HPHT product development and/or high expansion open hole packers is a plus
  • Incorporates Reliability, HSE and Quality analysis techniques during the design process
  • Proficient in Solidworks CAD design, and able to analyse designs using FEA simulation
  • Willingness to travel to Singapore (10% annually) and to client's offices in Houston

Education Requirements:

Skills acquired through the completion of a degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline. Minimum educational requirement of a master's degree and zero years' experience or bachelor's degree and two or more years' related experience. Preference: Having a minimum of 5 years' experience is highly preferred
