Candidate Profile

Performs the duties and tasks necessary to ensure the traffic and materials control functions for the Carville Styrenics Site are handled in an accurate, efficient manner. This includes, but is not limited to, scheduling of shipments / receipts and maintenance of records and material inventories as required to support the facility.

Activities

Core responsibilities:
  • Maintains knowledge of traffic arrangement and a working relationship with carriers, suppliers, customers, corporate, inspectors and plant personnel.
  • Maintains and monitors material inventory balances for the partners on a daily basis.
  • Schedules rail, truck and vessel traffic, as needed, to assure product is shipped to customer as required.
  • Develops schedules to eliminate all unnecessary demurrage. Also resolves material discrepancies.
  • Assumes responsibility for rail car destinations and forward storage inventory.
  • Keeps the partners aware of potential problems in shipping and receiving of raw materials and finished product.
  • Works with Shipping Department regarding scheduling of all material movements (both inbound and outbound). Also works with Shipping Department and Corporate personnel regarding coordination of applicable railcar repairs, cars to be released from service, etc.
  • Prepares and transmits numerous shipping papers to proper persons.
  • Keeps current logs on all bills-of-lading for the Carville Styrenics Site.
  • Secures information on railcars from representatives of CN Railroad and sets up rail shipments on a daily basis.
  • Communicates with CN as needed regarding specific requests (weighing railcars, etc.). Makes all necessary adjustments for estimated railcar weights.
  • Prepares and distributes shipping authorizations as necessary. Types and processes paperwork on sample shipments.
  • Processes and distributes bills-of-lading. Calculates weights on shipments, assembles quality reports and gauging certificates as needed. Completes invoicing.
  • Maintains working knowledge of computer applications for traffic responsibilities (both PC and TotalEnergies/SABIC System modules).
  • Reviews and schedules orders for shipment on a daily basis.
  • Scan and/or Email information as required - Bills-of-lading, C/A, return car instructions, etc.
  • Prepares and distributes numerous reports on a daily basis - Material balance, shipments wire, switch list, etc.
  • Communicates (email, telephone, etc.) as needed regarding any of the above.
