Profile
  • A bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in storage technology, preferably in the oil and gas industry or for an engineering contractor, a manufacturer or a contractor, with experience at sites, workshops, or in projects.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality technical solutions and outcomes for storage technology projects and operations.
  • Hands-on knowledge of storage technology principles, practices, design codes and standards, such as API, ASME, EEMUA, NFPA, etc.
  • Fluency in English in addition to another language and keenness to travel and work in different locations and environments.

Activities

OneTech is seeking a Technologist Engineer in Storage Technology, to join the Static and Thermal Equipment (STH) department, alongside approximately 20 other engineers specialising in piping, valves, pressure equipment, storage, welding, materials, sealing, and thermal equipment.

You will preferably be based at TotalEnergies Research and Technology Gonfreville (TRTG) near Le Havre in France, with possible alternate locations at TotalEnergies' headquarters in La Défense near Paris, or at the Centre Technique et Scientifique Jean Freger (CSTJF) in Pau, France.

You will be expected to undertake frequent short-duration business travels worldwide, amounting to a few days per month.

As a Technologist Engineer in Storage Technology, your key responsibilities will include providing technical expertise and advice on all aspects of liquid and gaseous storage technology, mostly hydrocarbons, including atmospheric tanks, LPG (Liquified Petroleum Gas) spheres and bullets, LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) tanks, and associated equipment and systems. Your activity will cover the whole life cycle of storage facilities: design, construction, troubleshooting, commissioning, maintenance, and field assistance. Your will focus on the technical integrity, the availability, and the performance of the equipment.

Namely, but not limited to:

  • Participating in problem-solving and technical decision-making for assets during routine operation, turnarounds, or shutdowns
  • Participating to scope challenges or work selections, following-up the works, assisting with storage recommissioning.
  • Determining the most appropriate technical choices for new or revamp projects.
  • Reviewing and commenting on technical documents and, assessing technical requisitions and deviation requests for the supply of critical or important equipment.
  • Monitoring the manufacturing of critical equipment at suppliers' workshops and its implementation at the sites.
  • Conducting or attending technical audits, inspections, investigations, and root cause analysis of incidents.
  • Proposing modes of repair for existing equipment.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of storage technology strategies, plans, and budgets.
  • Supporting the assets to comply with relevant codes, standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Drafting and updating Company's reference system.
  • Reviewing and approving technical specifications, drawings, calculations, reports, and documents.
  • Qualifying and monitoring suppliers of equipment, technology, services, or works.
  • Keeping a technological watch, identifying and evaluating new technologies, and innovations.
  • Developing and delivering training and mentoring programs for personnel dealing with storage facilities.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Representing TotalEnergies in inter-professional bodies and organizations and participate in technical conferences.
