As a Senior Power Electronics Engineer, you will support the General Managers of Green Energy (Grid, Wind, and Solar) as a key member of the team. In this role, you will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in HV Power Systems, Renewables, Transmission and Distribution, and Smart Grids. Your core responsibilities involve providing expert guidance, internally assisting in the identification and evaluation of new green energy opportunities and technologies, and fostering business growth. Your technical leadership will be pivotal in driving the green energy sector.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the company's go-to technical expert in HV Power Electronic Systems, Transmission and Distribution, and Smart Grids.
  • \r\n
  • Provide guidance and insights to project teams, helping to evaluate designs in advanced power electronics solutions that optimize efficiency, flexibility and reliability.
  • \r\n
  • Stay at the forefront of the green energy industry, continuously monitoring market trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes.
  • \r\n
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies, products, and partnerships that have the potential to enhance our green energy offerings.
  • \r\n
  • Collaborate with cross-functional project teams, including engineers, researchers, and product managers, to develop projects in alignment with industry best practices and standards.
  • \r\n
  • P rovide guidance on designing and developing power electronics systems, ensuring they meet performance and safety requirements.
  • \r\n
  • Tackle complex technical challenges related to power electronics systems, offering innovative and practical solutions.
  • \r\n
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and team members, fostering their professional growth.
  • \r\n
  • Promote a continuous learning and improvement culture by organising training sessions and sharing knowledge within the team.
  • \r\n
  • Collaborate with business development teams to identify and assess new business opportunities in the green energy sector.
  • \r\n
  • Contribute to developing comprehensive business strategies, leveraging your technical expertise to create value propositions for potential clients and partners.
  • \r\n
  • Ensure that all our power electronics solutions meet industry standards, compliance requirements, and quality benchmarks.
  • \r\n
  • Stay informed about relevant industry regulations, codes, and standards, and ensure that all solutions comply with these requirements.
  • \r\n
  • Perform risk and opportunity assessments for power electronics solutions, identifying both potential vulnerabilities that need to be addressed and opportunities that can be leveraged.
  • \r\n
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate power electronics systems into broader energy solutions, ensuring seamless functionality and performance
  • \r\n

Qualification and Skills:
\r\n
    \r\n
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • \r\n
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in designing and developing power electronics systems, focusing on HV Power Systems, Renewables Integration, Transmission and Distribution, and Smart Grids.
  • \r\n
  • Proficiency in designing and developing power electronic circuits, including converters, inverters, and rectifiers for HV DC and AC systems.
  • \r\n
  • Knowledge of HVDC and HVAC transmission systems, including their characteristics, applications, and integration with power electronics.
  • \r\n
  • Understanding control algorithms and the ability to design and implement control strategies for efficient and stable operation of power electronics systems.
  • \r\n
  • Ability to select appropriate components, such as semiconductors (IGBTs, MOSFETs, etc.) and passive components, to meet system performance requirements.
  • \r\n
  • Knowledge in using simulation software like PSCAD, MATLAB/Simulink, or SPICE to simulate power electronics circuits.
  • \r\n
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to power electronics, green energy technologies, HV DC and AC systems, ensuring adherence to safety and performance requirements.
  • \r\n
  • Understanding of international grid integration standards and regulations specific to the region of operation (e.g. NERC, FERC in the USA, Ofgem, Grid Codes in the UK, ENTSO-E codes in Europe, AEMO standards in Australia). Ensure that all grid integration activities align with these requirements.
  • \r\n
  • Proven track record of leading and executing complex engineering projects in the green energy sector.
  • \r\n
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to address complex technical challenges and provide innovative solutions.
  • \r\n
  • Capability to convey complex power electronics concepts to non-technical stakeholders s traightforwardly and understandably.
  • \r\n
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional teams, including engineers, researchers, and business development professionals.
  • \r\n
  • A passion for staying current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and market developments in green energy.
  • \r\n
  • Proven ability to identify and evaluate new technologies and opportunities for business growth.
  • \r\n
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and experience in identifying and successfully pursuing business opportunities in the green energy sector.
  • \r\n
  • Strong business writing and presentation skills, confidently able to present to senior decision-makers.
  • \r\n
  • Be comfortable to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • \r\n
  • Able to excel in a cooperative and collaborative team environment.
  • \r\n
