The GM & Asst Controller position reports to the Vice President and Controller, Finance and is accountable for analyzing corporate financial and operating results, management and board reporting, statutory accounting records and corporate-wide accounting controls, standards and processes. The candidate must have strong management, relationship and accounting skills. This position offers the opportunity to gain a broad understanding of the business and to interface with Management and Finance leaders across many functions and business units.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory requirements.
  • Reviewing and approving 10-K and 10-Q information.
  • Review of subsidiary and joint venture statutory and other regulatory filings.
  • Direct month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Oversee preparation of quarterly earnings materials.
  • Oversee SOX compliance and development of accounting policies.
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of accounting systems and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making processes, including profitability analysis, cost analysis, and trend analysis.
  • Responsible for external audit coordination.
  • Communicate consolidated financial results, analysis, and insights to senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address financial-related inquiries and support decision-making.
  • Providing advice and supporting for major transactions (i.e. Mergers and Acquisitions).
  • Lead and develop a team of qualified professionals.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent qualification
  • Public Accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and communicate financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Masters in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Broad understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, SEC rules and regulations and SOX requirements.
  • Ability to lead a team and participate on project teams in a collaborative manner.
  • Excellent analytical skills with ability to review complex processes and controls.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and influence skills.
  • Ability to create, compute, analyze and interpret data.
  • Work independently.
