Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Cost Estimator to join our Calgary office within the Oil & Gas Canada business unit. We are looking for a motivated, energetic individual with extensive knowledge in cost estimating within an EPC environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for timely preparation and delivery of various types of cost estimates, including LSTK and EPCM, for conventional and renewable industrial projects.
  • Developing project specific estimate plans, schedules, and basis within the project team
  • Development of conceptual, factored, semi-detailed, and detailed cost estimates at various project stages.
  • Liaising with Construction Management to coordinate constructability, scheduling and project execution inputs for cost estimates.
  • Calculating craft labor rates, productivity, and location factors
  • Reviewing and evaluating vendor and subcontractor quotes
  • Performing detailed quantitative, cost, cash flow and productivity analysis
  • Facilitating risk identification sessions, developing risk models, preparing reports and presentations
  • Reviewing estimate to ensure the completeness and high quality of the estimate.
  • Presentation of the estimate to internal and external client management
  • Providing support to all teams in effectively managing Contracts, associated Change Management issues and key interfaces with stakeholders.
  • Support of building and updating company estimating databases, cost index and productivity data.
  • Mentoring and coaching members of the estimating team to ensure ongoing development.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant technical or business discipline (or equivalent gained through relevant vocational training and/or industry experience)
  • A minimum of 10 years multi-discipline estimating experience including lump sum projects and reimbursable estimates related to large ($500 million and higher) LSTK / EPC / EPCM Projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of a variety of estimating types (Class 1 to 5), methods and techniques.
  • Extensive knowledge of industrial facility and pipeline estimates.
  • Knowledge of construction and execution methodology.
  • Proficient in Aspen Capital Cost Estimator (K-Base), MS-Excel, MS-Access or other estimating software.
  • Experience in conducting risk assessment and evaluation reviews with working knowledge of @ Risk software.
  • A distinct results orientation combined with outstanding communication, interpersonal and team building skills.
  • Knowledge and effective of change management and associated processes, including adaptability in aligning required procedures and processes with client needs.
  • Strong analytical, interpretive, organizational and problem-solving skills; Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • A solid ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
