JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood are sourcing an Automation Engineer to support a client project in Equatorial Guinea.

This position is only open to National EG personnel or personnel from CEMAC countries.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

The Automation engineer is the onshore focal point for all support required for the maintenance and modifications of the DCS, Fire and Gas, ESD, turbine control, SCM Metering and various other safety critical, and non-safety critical Instrument and Control Systems and Equipment.

The Automation engineer will collaborate closely with the Offshore Automation Lead. The position in based in the client office with offshore visits when required by operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Focal point offshore for all automation related matters with offshore teams, HQ and vendors.
  • Understand and troubleshoot OT Infrastructure and network, including AC400 MB300 and 800xA, Client/Server configurations for ABB, Rockwell Automation, Framo, and Cameron systems.
  • Collaborate with offshore teams and projects team to develop procedures for system reliability, covering logic programs, client/server, network, and spare parts inventory.
  • Liaise with T/A/s & Manufacturers with regards to faults, when required, in Instrument, Telecoms, Radar, Satellite, IT Systems and Control Systems.
  • Design, implement, and maintain automation systems for various processes aboard the FPSO.
  • Provide technical support during commissioning, start-up, and shutdown activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate automation solutions with existing equipment and operations.
  • Develop and execute preventive maintenance plans to uphold the integrity and performance of automation systems.
  • Keep abreast of technological advancements in automation and recommend system upgrades or modifications when necessary.
  • Assist and Telecoms, IT Systems and Control Systems vendors.
  • Operation and Maintenance of valves and associated control systems.
  • The Maintenance & Operation of all Instrument and Control Systems and Equipment onboard to include Automation, Telecoms, Metering, SAS F&G, ESD & Fiscal Metering Skid, Radar, Satellite and IT systems, including fault finding.
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree in Automation, Process Control, or a relevant field.
Industry Experience and knowledge:

  • Minimum experience (3 years) working with automation systems in the offshore oil and gas industry, preferably on FPSOs.
  • Experience with Online Builder, Control Builder M, Studio 5000, SIMATIC S7, etc.
  • Primarily knowledge on ABB 400/800 and Allen Bradley and an understanding of S7, Mitsubishi and HIMA.
  • Experience with specific automation software or platforms commonly used in FPSO F&G such as Antronica.
  • Proficiency in Visual Basic, FactoryTalk Studio, LabVIEW, Wonderware, Cimplicity, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of communication protocols (Profibus, Modbus, Ethernet, ControlNet, etc.).
  • Ability to read and create loop diagrams, electrical drawings, cause and effect charts, etc.
  • Proficiency in SCADA systems.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., PLC, DCS) and control system design.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations pertaining to automation (e.g., IEC 61511, ISA-95).
PC Application Skills:

  • IT literate with proficiency Microsoft Applications

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
