JOB DESCRIPTION

The Western Hemisphere SCM Director role in the Rig Technologies business unit of NOV is responsible for a center-led approach to the Business Unit's sourcing, category, and supplier management strategies. This position is expected to collaborate with Eastern Hemisphere SCM leadership to ensure adherence to global standards and alignment of supply chain policies, practices, and strategies to build a world-class supply chain, optimizing cost, lead time, and supply chain performance.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and develop a team of supply chain professionals, set objectives, establish priorities, and drive accountability for measurable results.
  • Build sourcing strategies to drive category management, supplier consolidation, and total lowest landed cost initiatives, all while maintaining an agile supply chain in a low volume, high mix industry.
  • Improve supplier performance by using key performance metrics, project management skills, effective management of internal/external relationships, and allocation of SCM resources to help suppliers meet and exceed NOV's expectations.
  • Manage, revise, and implement supply chain programs, projects, and tools to increase company efficiency and minimize costs by actively challenging supplier pricing, initiating cost savings projects, assessing supplier capabilities, driving preferred supplier performance, and developing alternate sources.
  • Manage and report on supplier risk by reviewing single-sourced supply, monitoring supplier financial health, understanding industry and market pricing and availability trends, and tracking geopolitical influencers. Using this information, develop and implement strategies to mitigate risk and meet the company business objectives.
  • Negotiate procurement terms and contracts to ensure continuity of supply and competitive prices and to improve working capital.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally within and external to SCM to promote a continuous improvement, problem solving culture, including development of systems and tools to drive standardization and reduction in waste.
  • Stay informed about leading analytics tools and methodologies and how they can be applied within the organization.
  • Ensure SCM employees are compliant with HSE requirements, NOV Code of Conduct, and other company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure suppliers are compliant with HSE requirements, NOV Code of Conduct, and ESG reporting obligations.
  • Create and monitor annual goals and budget in alignment with the organization's financial and operational objectives.
  • Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required:
    • Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain management, business, or relevant discipline.
    • 10-15 years of related, verifiable experience in Supply Chain Management to include Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, and Supplier Performance Management with a minimum of 8 years in leadership and supervisory positions.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite. Competent use of Powerpoint, Project-based software, Excel and other analytical tools.
    • Proven ability to analyze market trends and implement corresponding actions.
    • Experience in developing and leading supply chain strategies.
    • Experience in a low volume, high mix, fast-paced production environment.
    • Knowledge of lean concepts.
  • Preferred:
    • Master's degree in supply chain management, engineering, business or related field.
    • CPIM, CSCP, or similar supply chain certification.
    • Familiarity with oil and gas business and API Q1 quality management standard.
    • Experience with raw materials, specifically steel castings and forgings.
    • Knowledge of ESG framework and supply chain reporting requirements.

  • Ability to pass a drug screen & background check.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to manage diverse relationships, mentor employees, and build an effective, high-performance team.
  • Excellent organizational, strategic, planning and implementation skills.
  • Possess the ability to deliver engaging, impactful, clear and concise presentations to influence suppliers, customers, peers, and executive leadership.
    • Must be able to tailor such presentations to the given audience.
  • Proven track record of complex and creative problem-solving with strong analytical skills using data to drive decisions and measurable results in a business environment.
  • Solid financial acumen, able to interpret numbers to form and shape business plan.
  • Good understanding of and ability to influence IT concepts and integrated business applications.
  • Demonstrated organizational change management support for large, complex, enterprise-level initiatives.
  • A team player and team builder who presents ideas in a fashion where "Buy In" is readily achieved.
  • Competent negotiator.
