PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide engineering support on electrical equipment.
- Develop preliminary designs and one-line power diagrams.
- Perform electrical load calculations.
- Research, develop, and design electronic power and control circuitry.
- Produce functional specifications for purchased equipment or parts.
- Perform and/or supervise creation of design or detail drawings.
- Lead designers in the development of electrical, schematic, interconnect, cabling, and assembly drawings.
- Review client specifications to ensure compliance or negotiate solutions.
- Review contractual content to ensure technical and regulatory content.
- Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
- Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
- Provide all required calculations and documentation for designs.
- Give direction to designers and drafters.
- Verify, check and approve drawings and layouts.
- Provide technical liaison to Sr. Design, Principal, and Engineering Managers for sales, service, and operations in both the office and field.
- Provide engineering functions at lower and/or higher skill levels to accomplish projects when schedules, workload, etc. dictate, and to further expand skills, under the direction of the Engineering Manager, allowing for experience required for job advancement.
- Ability to communicate effectively technical principles and equipment operation to other departments (i.e., operations, sales, parts, and to customer).
- Develop application information for proposals on all product lines.
- Support sales activity with technical information on electrical equipment.
- Support part operation by generating substitutions and/or improved systems when required with economic limits.
- Comply with and perform Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Science (four-year degree) in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program.
- Minimum of three years relevant work experience.
- Relevant power and control system design experience.
- Demonstrated an understanding of real vs. imaginary power and basic electrical principals.
- Able to explain motor controls, VFDs, and Soft Starters.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with 3D design software.
- Advanced computer skills to include the ability to use spreadsheets and word processing software.
- Basic mechanical knowledge.
- Conceptualize electrical design solutions.
- Create/design electrical power and control solutions.
- Perform power system calculations of lifting appliances.
- Support field construction and service operations
- Perform and/or supervise the creation of project drawings.
- Provide engineering and troubleshooting support to service technicians.
- Be able to travel to a customer's site as needed.
- Work well in stressful situations.
- Be a team-player.
- Relevant crane (lifting appliance) experience preferred.
- Siemens Teamcenter competency preferred.
- AutoCAD Inventor competency preferred.
