JOB DESCRIPTION

National Oilwell Varco is seeking a driven Global Applications Engineer to join our team in Houston, TX or Denver, CO. As the Global Applications Engineer you will act as the interface between engineering, operations, sales and supply chain to provide technical support, troubleshooting assistance and routine or special product applications. Additional duties will include working with marketing to ensure technical accuracy on product literature and supporting other Completion Tools regions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and applications engineering support for operations, sales and engineering
  • Visit operations districts to provide in-person technical support on important projects
  • Participate/Contribute in design reviews of new and updated products proposed by Engineering
  • Prepare product bulletins and product data sheets
  • Provide technical support to supply chain by verifying accuracy of orders
  • Develop technical proposals, well schematics, running procedures
  • Write and present papers for professional engineering associations, e.g SPE
  • Demonstrates knowledge of field operations including but not limited to completions and well construction, open hole and cemented frac completions, toe valve, and frac operations
  • Provide mentorship and prepare educational material for Sales, Operations, R&D Engineering and Junior Applications Engineers
  • Mastery of oilfield math calculations including volumes, pressures, forces, and advanced hydraulics
  • Maintain controlled copies of relevant applications and sales templates and documents
  • Manage customer related NCR (Non-Conformance Report) and related processes
  • Performs client interface duties as required
  • Available on a 24-hour call basis to respond to customer needs
  • Work assignments carried out to the highest quality level
  • Responsible to follow all applicable company and corporate policies, procedures and programs; including but not limited to the Code of Conduct, Anti-Corruption and Anti-Bribery policy, health, safety and environmental requirements and all applicable local policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering
  • 5-10 years of Applications Engineering experience with exposure to liner hanger systems, multi-stage fracturing systems, and conventional completions
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of employees and departments
  • Excellent Communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to effectively utilize dedicated resources and ability to plan, control and take responsibility for own work
  • Proven technical problem-solving ability
  • Math fundamentals, calculate pressures, volumes and advanced hydraulics
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
  • Knowledge of industry torque and drag, tube move, hydraulics and centralizer placement software are an asset
