Field Service Technician - Controls

JOB DESCRIPTION
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Travel to customer sites to inspect, install, commission, test, calibrate, repair and train customers on the safe and proper operation of NOV products
• Perform field upgrades of software and hardware and train customers on how to properly operate the system
• Complete and submit field service documentation in a timely manner
• Identify those characteristics of the design that are crucial to the safe and proper functioning of the product
• Perform other work-related tasks as assigned
• Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures
• Prepare for service jobs including downloading drawings, software, and all procedures required
FACILITY/GROUP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provides start-up service for newly installed equipment and service of existing equipment
• Communicates directly with Engineering for Technical advice.
• The Field Service Technician must complete all work himself on components such as piping, electrical, hydraulic, brakes, and clutches to eliminate delays and back charges.
• Obtain a thorough understanding of NOV products and how they are safely operated, tested, calibrated, and how problems are resolved in a timely manner
• Install, commission, troubleshoot, and repair NOV Lifting and Handling equipment
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
• 5 years preferred of Controls/Electrical troubleshooting experience
• Must possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Microsoft Office knowledge is required
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics required
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical/electronic/control circuits required
• Ability to utilize various electrical diagnostic tools including multimeters, oscilloscope, and basic hand tools required
• Knowledge of Lifting and Handling equipment/operations strongly desired
• Mechanical/Hyd troubleshooting a plus
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Must have or be able to obtain USA Passport and a Valid Driver License
• Must have or be able to obtain HUET/BOSIET certification
• Must have or be able to pass UKOOA/OGUK medical exam for offshore work
• Meet all land and offshore certification requirements
• Must have or be able to obtain TWIC

• Must be action oriented, problem solver, time management and a problem solver. Must remain professional when customers are upset
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
• Must have experience with PLCs and PLC control systems and working knowledge of VFDS
• Experience must include Allen Bradley RSLogix500/Studio 5000 and Siemens Step 7/TIA Portal
• Must have experience with Emerson/Rockwell/Siemens HMI displays
