JOB DESCRIPTION

Knowledge Manager

The Knowledge Manager's objective is to create, direct and curate an easy-to-use online repository for sales friendly documents and information. The end goal will be to produce and deliver the right knowledge to the right person in the right context at the right time. Specifically, the Knowledge Manager is responsible for gathering and validating the ReedHycalog business unit's technical material and ensuring its availability through a variety of tools. This position reports to the Product Line Direct - Drill Bits and will work closely with DSE, Sales, and PLE departments.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure the effective capture, storage, dissemination, and accessibility of sales focused data, information, knowledge, and experience.
  • Direct the development and use of appropriate data and document storage systems and tools, to help sales, field, and engineering staff.
  • Review and curate document submission to ensure quality standards are met and confidential information is not being distributed without prior internal and/or external approval.
  • Provide guidance and training on knowledge management systems, tools, and best practices.
  • Design, prepare and deliver presentations, articles, training material, proposals & reports.
  • Analyze and report performance data on KM systems.
  • Develop and administer surveys and interviews on data quality, usage and paths for improvement.
  • Encourage submission and use of all knowledge management tools by all ReedHycalog personnel, ensuring a strong communication path is maintained.
  • Review and provide feedback on field documents such as performance summaries and ensure that they are populated into the appropriate system(s).
  • Review document download statistics and trends.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices for Knowledge Management and make recommendations for improvements.
  • All other duties as assigned.


  • Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree
  • Minimum five (5) years in the oil and gas industry, preferable with a strong knowledge in drill bits and related drilling product lines and practices.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) required.
  • Proven sales and interpersonal skills.
  • Training and/or technical writing experience is a strong plus.
  • Experience manipulating and analyzing data with great attention to detail.
  • Position may require travel, domestic and international.
