Position Summary

Join our dynamic team as a IT Security Specialist and become a vital contributor to support NASA as an Oceaneering Teammate on the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) II contract. As an integral part of our organization, you'll play a crucial role to provide support to Systems Infrastructure section in the Science and Exploration Department on the NASA JSC Engineering, Technology and Science II (JETS II) Contract.

Someone in this role would typically have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent certification and posess ten (10) years of experience. This position can be hired at any level in our professional career framework, depending on business need at the time of hire.
**International travel may be required. Straight time overtime, 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), and/or 1 day of telework per week may be available**

Duties & Responsibilities

SOME OF YOUR MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

• Create and maintain system security plans including documentation of system configuration, control implementation, and associated risks.
• Execute security control assessments in compliance with NASA policies and procedures.
• Develop IT Security related policies and procedures for the Exploration Architecture, Integration and Science (EAIS) Directorate to comply with NASA Cybersecurity standards, handbooks, and guidelines.
• Assess the needs of cybersecurity stakeholders.
• Conduct risk and vulnerability assessments of proposed hardware/software changes to identify weaknesses, risks, and protection needs, etc. using tools designed for this purpose.
• Periodically review existing hardware/software configurations to ensure ongoing compliance with NASA security requirements.
• Clearly communicate identified risks and vulnerabilities to stakeholders at every level -from system users to Directorate, Mission, and Agency leaders -through Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&M), Risk Based Decisions (RBD), and security control implementation details.
• Provide written and verbal advice to IT stakeholders to persuade coworkers and managers to accept findings and implement recommendations.
• Thoroughly monitor all phases of IT systems security.
• Identify cybersecurity problem areas and recommend solutions.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

• Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent certification in a related area and normally. posess ten (10) years of experience in the or in a related area.
• Familiarity with NIST Cybersecurity Framework.

PREFERRED

• Typically has a BS degree in a computer or system science discipline from an accredited college/university and eight (8) years of progressive, relevant experience.
• Familiarity with NASA Information Technology policies, procedures, and handbooks.
• CISSP, CompTIA Security+, CISM, GIAC Cyber Defense or similar certifications considered a plus.
• Familiarity with endpoint detection and response, vulnerability scanning and remediation, audit log recording/reporting and similar tools.
• Ability to complete a Public Trust background investigation [JJ(XTI1] [STC(XTI2] [STC(XTI3].
• Experience in information technology outside the security realm (networking, system administration, application development, etc.).
