Position Summary

Join our dynamic team as a Dive Operations Specialist and become a vital contributor to Neutral Buoyancy Lab (NBL) in Clear Lake, where Astronauts and others receive space suit and mission training for Extra Vehicular Activity (EVA)! As an integral part of our organization, you'll play a crucial role as a Topside Monitor, supporting divers throughout the day, a Hoist Operator supporting test and training events, a Float Video Diver maintaining video surveillance of in-water activities, and a Safety Diver continually monitoring the suited subject's wellbeing and assist them with non-flight related tasks. Duties & Responsibilities

SOME OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

• SCUBA diving up to 25 hours per week supporting EVA training for NASA's Astronauts.
• Supporting commercial operations as required by program needs.
• Using Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
• Operating lift bags.
• Providing minimal fabrication and repair of mockups and/or systems.
• Filling pressurized cylinders.
• Performing periodic facility maintenance.
• Completing facility clean-up in and out of the water.
• Performing various administrative tasks including daily timecards, e-mail correspondence, meetings, etc.

This is a great opportunity for both professional and casual certified divers with experience. This role will require some lifting (50-90 lbs.), standing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, reaching, and repetitive movement. A pre-employment swim test will be required as part of the selection process.

If selected for this position, the applicant will be required to pass a United States Government background check, Johnson Space Center approved dive physical and a NBL SCUBA diving evaluation.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

• Nationally recognized SCUBA Certification (NAUI, PADI, etc.).
• Minimum of twenty-five logged dives.

PREFERRED:

• Bachelor's degree, associate degree in related field; or equivalent combination of education and technical or military training.
• Military or commercial diving license with advanced/higher dive training.
• Mechanical or electrical experience.
• Underwater video and photography experience.
• SCUBA Repair/Maintenance/Assembly experience strongly recommended.
