JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood has an immediate requirement for a Senior Riser Consultant to join our team based in Houston, Texas. This is a contract position, on-call as needed, and expected to have a duration of 12 months.

Due to the nature of the position, we will consider only local, qualified candidates at this time.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Function as a Point of Contact for riser related inquiries to clients and regulatory groups;
• Work with junior engineering to aid achieving project completion to the project specifications on schedule
• Being accountable for the quality of subsea riser design related deliverables
• Providing sound technical advice and solutions to a diversity of technical problems within the discipline
• Take personal responsibility for quality of work carried out.
• Demonstrates understanding and application of engineering fundamentals to projects activities
• Ability to work without close supervision, but availing of support from experienced personnel in complex circumstances
• Generate a report which is concise, neat, contains all relevant detail and is in keeping with standard WGK reporting format and guidelines
• Compile e-mails describing results, premises, reports and technical notes
• Awareness that the role of the project manager is to give guidance and review results and reports for soundness and completeness
• Client contact such as meeting attendance or secondments
• Report preparation under supervision of Senior Riser Lead and/or Project Manager

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
• Min of 15 years of experience in Riser Design and people management.
• Minimum 15 years managing major riser engineering projects, and in particular detailed design and execution projects
• Familiar with Codes / Standards related to riser engineering and Oil and Gas industry
• Knowledge / experience in different types of riser design (SCRs, SLWR's, Flexibles, TTR's, etc.)
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) preferred
• Excellent management, communication and leadership skills
• Established relationships within the industry and skill areas
• Demonstrated ability and experience working in a fast-track, dynamic project environment with enhanced decision-making responsibilities.
• Must be a US citizen, or authorized to work lawfully in the US, without sponsorship from Wood
