The National Business Development Director is accountable for the development of the direct Lubricants business at a national level in order to achieve short and long-term objectives set by Lubricants leadership in segments including, but not limited to, commercial, industrial, forestry, trucking, and heavy equipment. This position is responsible for identifying, pursuing and delivering direct lubricant business opportunities that add strategic value and is responsible for achieving sales and profitability targets.

Responsibilities May Include:
  • Identify and develop new direct business opportunities at the national level
  • Grow sales pipeline
  • Lead sales campaigns for prospect opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Account Managers and Regional Business Development to help close large deals above set thresholds.
  • Maintain a view of current and future markets within Lubricants with respect to market pricing, competitor activities, and lubricant product trends.
  • In conjunction with the National Business Development Manager, formulate and develop targets and growth plans.
  • Achieve targets for segment growth as set out by Finished Lubricants leadership.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Product teams to leverage product roadmap and targeted campaign strategies.
  • Stay passionate.
  • Identify trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements; tracking potential prospects and environmental changes.
  • Screen potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials.
  • Prioritize prospect pursuits, aligning internal priorities and recommending investments.
  • Develop negotiating strategies and positions, examining risks and potentials, estimating prospect needs and goals.
  • Close new business deals by coordinating requirements, developing and negotiating contracts, integrating contract requirements with business operations.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities: reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, participating in professional organizations.

Required Qualifications:
  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Hold and maintain a valid driver's license
  • 10 or more years of experience working in Lubricants
  • Willing and able to travel up to 50% of the time
  • Tenacity in pursuing deals with longer term sales cycles
  • Strong negotiation skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Engineering or business degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience selling and relationship-building for lubricant products direct to commercial, industrial, and consumer markets, specifically working with OEMs, Heavy Duty, and Installer channels
  • Experience working with Marketers (Distributors)
  • Experience working with end-users
  • Understanding of lubricants products and application across sectors
  • Strong leadership, teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Strategic thinker, results-oriented to achieve target goals
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and writing, for effective communications across the organization with senior managers and key stakeholders
  • Ability to network effectively with internal and external customers (customer focused) building trust, cooperation and long-lasting relationships
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Strong market analysis skills with ability to assess key information
  • Thorough grasp of computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite)
