JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is looking for a potential Offshore Day / Night Rig Superintendent.

This is an expression of interest role and if active would be based in Equatorial Guinea on a rotational basis of 28x28.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicate with the onshore office on a daily basis for both normal operations and in emergency preparedness situations.
  • Present a daily work program, based on the Drilling Procedure, or Completion Procedure, to the rig supervision and other Contractors to ensure effective communication of expectations and forward plans.
  • Ensure Drilling Contractors and third party personnel involved in the operations being supervised are in compliance with the WODC-EG Management System.
  • Ensure the Bridging Documents are communicated and personnel are aware of the procedures and processes used to work in a safe and environmentally sound manner following the WODC-EG Management System.
  • Maintain well control during all phases of well operations.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of the Drilling Contractor and Service Companies, without interfering with their role as independent contractors.
  • Identify short-comings in compliance with WODC-EG Management System or safety related issues to the onshore personnel so procedures can me modified appropriately.
  • Coordinate logistics for equipment and personnel with the appropriate shore base and third party vendors to optimize operational efficiency and minimize unnecessary costs.
  • Ensure the well specific Look-a-Head is maintained and distributed to key venders for planning of equipment and personnel.
  • Ensure all operations are accurately reported, and problems and causes, lessons learned and improvement suggestions are adequately documented.
  • Actively participate in end of well reviews discussing all suggestions captured and assist with implementation as appropriate
  • Monitor the operation to ensure methods and controls specified for the activity are being employed.
  • Follow-up progress on items identified during pre-drill inspections.
  • Audit safety and marine drills in cooperation with Company or 3rd Party Auditors.
  • Audit and ensure rig's mechanical integrity program is followed.
  • Ensure optimum drilling conditions are maintained at all times using recognized safe drilling practices.
  • Involved in critical activities on the rig to ensure safety measures are strictly enforced for all activities.
  • Ensure communications lines are known and the communications to and from the rig are coordinated.
  • Promote Behavioral Based Safety, Stop Work Authority, and After Action Reviews among on-site personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Similar supervisory experience within an offshore environment
  • Some experience in drilling preferred
  • Good command of English (written and spoken)
