Candidate Profile
Bachelor's degree in accounting with minimum of 3-7 years accounting experience required.
Joint Venture and Equity accounting experience is a plus.
Intermediate to advanced knowledge and experience with SAP, Microsoft Office, Adobe and database software is highly preferrable.
Candidates should be strong in both written and oral communication. Due to the nature of working with so many departments and people, interpersonal skills are a must.
Activities
A primary facet of this role is to monitor and ensure that monthly operating results, assets and liabilities are reasonable, justifiable and consistent with company policies, Sarbanes-Oxley procedures, IFRS, local and global TE reporting requirements, and in compliance with JV agreements.
This position will be responsible for completing SOX and other financial audit requests and associated paperwork within a timely manner.
The incumbent will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of the monthly financial statements to all key stakeholders.
The incumbent will ensure accurate monthly billing of plant costs to both partners and customers.
Oversee the preparation of month-end plant accruals, payroll cost, work order settlements and activity revaluations along with other tasks prepared on behalf of the plant.
Advises Plant Management on matters such as improved cost control, variance analysis for senior level meetings, preparation, and ownership of large parts of Carville's annual budget and long-term plan.
Context & Environment
This position reports to the Supervisor - Plant Accounting.
A key aspect for this position is the need to develop working relationships with business and financial groups to participate in business activities and decisions (includes partners and customers, plant personnel, Finance and Accounting groups, etc).
Must have an understanding of SAP, the local business structure and processes.
Responsible for reviewing accuracy of accounting information, report operating expense and other billing information by the end of the monthly closing. Responsible for an explanation of every account balance - review, reconcile, and provide a resolution for each account on a monthly basis.
Assist with special projects, such as Townsend Benchmarking, Long Term Plan, and any other projects while prioritizing duties as necessary.
