The primary purpose of this position is to optimize the feedstock slate to the Rodeo Renewed complex, and coordinate between Trading, Refining, Scheduling and Midstream to maximize profitabily across the value chain.

We do this by maximizing general interest profitability, enhancing return on capital employed by successfully partnering with the Refining, Transportation and Marketing functions to ensure Value Chain Integration. Our truck and rail fleets support our feedstock and distribution operations. Rail movements are provided via a fleet of more than 10,000 owned and leased rail cars. Truck movements are provided through numerous third-party trucking companies, as well as through our 100 percent-owned subsidiary, Sentinel Transportation LLC.

The primary purpose of this position is to optimize the feedstock slate to the Rodeo Renewed complex, and coordinate between Trading, Refining, Scheduling and Midstream to maximize profitabily across the value chain.
Responsibilities:
- Driving cross-functional dialogue to continually optimize global renewables feedstock slates and rates.
- Maximize CI credit capture economics within MOC limits.
- Understand LP model inputs and outputs, and be actively involved in the runs and results.
- Work with facility planning/economics personnel, traders, trade floor-based LP modeler and schedulers to align around feedstock availability assumptions.
- Lead the process to approve new feedstocks at the facility.
- Understand market developments/direction and share across the value chain to enable better, quicker decisions within the optimization process and better plan future refinery slates and rates.
- Work with London and Singapore on feedstock questions and optimization.
- Assist in setting up and implementing the process around the feedstock Quality Monitoring System at the facility.
- Be an active participant in determining refinery turnaround schedules/strategies given market factors and economic implications.
- Work with the team to minimize demurrage and dock optimization.
- Serve as Rodeo feedstock strategy point person and as a resource for regional refining system studies and projects including logistics opportunities and commitments.
- Help develop feedstock supply inventory targets and manage inventories to target. This includes heightened year-end activities support.
- Driving maximum results across the value chain:
- Evaluate renewables feedstock logistics infrastructure to understand availabilities and relative general interest economics across the PSX system considering facility yields, inventory consequences, market structure implications, GI cost to ship, GI management of firm space commitments, 3rd party opportunities, etc.).
- Ensure that we are optimizing across commodities (feedstock, renewable products, intermediates, etc.) and across functional lines (Commercial, Refining, Midstream, Marketing, etc.).
- Work with RBI, Trading, Strategy, VCO Managers, Refining HQ and others to develop, implement and maintain crude feedstock strategy for the facility.
- Lead optimization of feedstock supply during unplanned downtime events.
- Work closely with scheduling to ensure that the refineries receive what was determined to be the most optimum achievable slate.
- Track other feedstock optimization efforts results and report them timely (weekly one-liners, Opportunity Tracking Tool, etc.).
Required Qualifications:
- Legally authorized to work in the job posting country.
- Bachelor's degree.
- 3 or more years of Commercial experience in the fuel industry and value chain (refining, marketing, transportation).
- Intermediate proficiency of Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Must have the ability and willingness to work extended and non-standard hours, and/or be available 24/7 for questions/updates, and cover all issues during weekend or holiday coverage.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering.
- 5 or more years of Commercial experience in the fuel industry or value chain (renewables, refining, marketing, transportation).
- 1 or more years of experience working with financial products/contracts used in commodity trading and risk management (swaps, options, futures and forwards).
- 3 or more years of experience scheduling petroleum products/crude/renewables.
- 1 or more years of experience with hedging.
- 1 or more year of contract negotiation.
- Understanding of US crude waterborne movements, inventory, crude oil contracts.
- 1 or more years of experience with the mid/back office duties of a global energy trading organization.
- Analytical approach to problem solving.
- Self-motivated.
- Able to multi-task and adapt to a changing environment.
