Job SummaryDescription

This position will be located in Houston, Texas, in the Communications, Community Programs and Brand department. The Analyst, Community Relations will be focused primarily, but not limited to, Houston-area arts and social services community programs, local employee celebration events, and associated volunteer opportunities run by ConocoPhillips Corporate Community Relations team with the goal of addressing local community needs and enhancing ConocoPhillips brand reputation with key stakeholders.
Job Description
Your responsibilities may include:
  • Manage portfolio of predominately Houston and Corporate community relations partners, programs, events, and activities; support Corporate Staff philanthropic partner management and associated activities
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate Houston-based community outreach and corporate events, sponsorships, and volunteer activities, including but not limited to CERAWeek, Houston Holiday concert and United Way workforce giving campaign
  • Collaborate with Business Units, Functions and Staffs to level-set knowledge of Charitable Investments strategy, policy guidelines, daily operating activities and resources
  • Co-lead the development and communication of the Houston-based community events calendar and volunteer activities
  • Lead associated volunteer team efforts including keeping participants on track with associated roles, responsibilities and timelines
  • Partner with Creative Services to design branded elements and giveaways for events; identify and coordinate related vendor services
  • Collaborate with team members to design, deliver and execute other Corporate Community Relations initiatives, as needed
  • Maintain and cultivate relationships with charitable partners; leverage relationships to identify strategic ways to expand program visibility and impact
  • Evaluate and ensure sound due diligence in screening charitable partners and programs for strategic business alignment, reputational risks, and financial viability
  • Ensure all events and associated support materials are in alignment with the ConocoPhillips brand narrative and support our overall Community Relations strategy
  • Create communications plans and content (e.g., websites, presentations, promotional materials) to effectively promote community programs to internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop strategies and business plans, with impact metrics for ongoing assessment of charitable programs and events and the effectiveness of external partners
  • Represent the company at select community events
  • Identify and leverage opportunities for company leaders to develop and enhance relationships with external stakeholders
  • Serve as liaison for incoming community relations and philanthropy inquiries and complaints. Respond to philanthropy and community-related executive correspondence
  • Assist with other Community Relations work as directed

Basic/Required:
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in business, philanthropy, communications, public relations, education, related field, or foreign equivalent
  • 5 or more years of experience with philanthropic, sponsorship and/or events management
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodations) to work flexible hours, and occasionally on evenings and weekends

Preferred:
  • Strong problem-solving skills; ability to make timely decisions and demonstrate good judgment
  • Strong project management skills; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with a wide range of internal and external contacts with diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Builds positive relationships across organizations that foster a collaborative work environment
  • Creative thinking, attention to details
  • Must demonstrate poise and professionalism when representing company at internal and external events
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to build continuous improvement into the work process by continually identifying new and better ways of managing assigned activities
  • Takes ownership of actions and follows through on dedications by holding others accountable and standing up for what's right
  • Delivers results through realistic planning to accomplish goals
  • Builds effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical
