Job Description:
Back Office is part of the Power Trading Support organization, with multi locations mainly in Geneva, Houston, Paris & Madrid.
As a Back Office Analyst you will work closely with the Originators, Traders, Operations, Middle Office, Energy Data Management, Legal & Compliance, Credit, Treasury, Trading Accounting and the IT teams.
The Back Office Analyst will be in charge to manage a portfolio of counterparties dealing with physical power, asset back trading and renewable businesses in Europe (PPA contracts, financial swaps, CCGT contracts, biogas, environmental certificates, aggregation/market access, flexibility market, batteries...).
Key responsibilities include deal confirmations, invoicing, payments and contract management. These processes are key to the commerciality of deals transacted by the Front Office teams. Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy are essential skills in an environment where an error can have both financial and reputational ramifications. Strong drive to improve processes and systems is necessary alongside good IT skills (excel/VBA/Python). You may be expected to develop new tools to secure and optimize the process and build new reports adapted to the business evolutions.

The position requires strong communication skills within the team, externally and with other departments within the organisation. Both industry and contractual deadlines need to be respected to meet all of the company's obligations. Reconciliation of discrepancies and resolution of counterpart issues requires the jobholder to be able to seek out information necessary for problem solving. Reporting and monitoring obligations per EMIR, REMIT, Sarbanes-Oxley Act and to comply with other rules & regulations require diligence and attention to detail.

- You hold a master's degree or equivalent,
- Ideally with a first experience as back office in a utility or a power trading company and/or knowledge of power & renewable business in France and Europe
- A high level of engagement, reliability, and strong team player mentality
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- High degree of accuracy and efficiency under set deadlines in a pressurized environment
- Being fluent in French & English is essential and European languages are desirable.
- Strong adaptability to change in a complex and changing environment.
- Good IT skills (excel/VBA/Python/PBI)
- Excellent communication skills and customer service mentality

What you will do:
- Manage a portfolio of internal & external counterparts (utilities, producers, ..)
- Ensure that accurate trading information is represented within our 'in-house' trading system (the BOOK) by confirming deals with counterparts and brokers on a daily basis
- Send invoices to counterparts within industry or contractual deadlines
- Submit payment instructions to finance in a timely manner to comply with contractual payment dates
- Reconcile counterpart/TSO invoices against the BOOK
- Assist the Accounting team with accruals, aged debt reporting and resolution
- Effective communications with numerous internal and external parties to ensure timely resolutions to problems and queries
- Contribute to the overall team responsibilities and goals including assisting with the team's general duties such as emailing, archiving and filing
- Participate in team and individual projects delegated by the Back Office Manager/Supervisor, such as the implementation of a new ETRM
- Support, identify, and assist in implementing process & systems improvement, from system testing and implementations to desk level process
- Identify and communicate operational risk, define risk mitigating measures and priorities
